Job Responsibility
Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, process efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
Integrate automation systems with injection moulding machines, assembly equipment, conveyors, vision systems, and testing equipment.
Support automation integration for injection moulding processes, including robot take-out, insert loading, degating, and post-moulding operations.
Develop and optimise automation solutions for assembly processes, including part feeding, pick-and-place, screw fastening, press-fit, welding, and functional testing.
Work closely with Process and Manufacturing Engineering teams to improve cycle time, optimise manpower utilisation, and minimise production rejects.
Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, industrial robots, and motion control systems, including platforms such as Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB, and Epson.
Develop and modify automation logic, sequences, interlocks, and safety circuits to support production requirements.
Ensure effective communication between machines and automation systems using relevant industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, and Modbus.
Diagnose and resolve automation system faults, equipment breakdowns, and performance issues to minimise production downtime.
Provide technical support during production activities, mould trials, equipment commissioning, and new product launches.
Conduct preventive maintenance and improvement activities for automation equipment to maintain reliability and performance.
Analyse existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for automation, cycle time reduction, productivity improvement, and process optimisation.
Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine reliability, OEE, process stability, and overall production efficiency.
Support the implementation of poka-yoke and vision inspection systems to improve process quality and reduce defects.
Ensure automation systems comply with applicable machine safety requirements and the company's Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) standards.
Prepare and maintain relevant automation documentation, including electrical drawings, PLC programmes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and risk assessments.
Support IQ, OQ, and PQ activities for automated equipment, where applicable.
Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth implementation and operation of automation systems.
Coordinate with machine suppliers, system integrators, and equipment vendors on installation, commissioning, debugging, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
Provide guidance and training to technicians and operators on automation system operation and basic troubleshooting.
Manage project timelines, technical deliverables, and relevant project documentation.
Support automation cost estimation, RFQ evaluation, equipment selection, and automation feasibility studies.
Job Requirement
Minimum 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in industrial automation, preferably within medical device, precision engineering, or precision plastic manufacturing environments.
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in PLCs, HMIs, industrial robots, and automation control systems, including Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB, or Epson.
Relevant experience with injection moulding automation, including robot take-out, insert loading, degating, and post-moulding processes, will be an advantage.
Experience in automating assembly processes such as part feeding, pick-and-place, press-fit, screw fastening, welding, and functional testing will be an advantage.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills, with the ability to support production-related technical issues effectively.
