Job Description

Responsibilities

Location: Cyberjaya, Selangor, Malaysia

Projects: Major Data Centre Developments

Contract: Approx. 12 months, with potential extension

Expected Start: November 2026

Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00, with occasional out-of-hours support

About the Opportunity

A confidential international data centre organisation is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to provide client-side EHS assurance across major data centre construction projects in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.

The initial assignment involves a brownfield upgrade of an operational data centre, increasing IT capacity while the facility remains fully operational throughout construction.

The project includes major MEP upgrades, new generator and power infrastructure, fire protection, BMS, data hall fit-out, chilled-water systems, CRAH replacement, live cutovers and commissioning.

A potential extension may also involve a large-scale greenfield data centre development, providing exposure to early works, piling, structural construction, substation energisation, commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide client-side EHS assurance throughout construction, commissioning, energisation and handover.
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor EHS performance and implementation of project requirements.
  • Review H&S management plans, RAMS/MOPs, risk assessments, lifting plans, LOTO arrangements, permits and emergency plans.
  • Lead/undertake High-Risk Activity (HRA) Critical Control Assessments and regular site inspections.
  • Provide assurance around live operations, shutdowns, tie-ins, switching activities and SIMOPS.
  • Review controls for excavation and construction activities near live underground cables and fibre infrastructure.
  • Support planning and assurance for temporary power, chilled-water cutovers and other critical operational interfaces.
  • Identify and escalate significant risks, ineffective controls and recurring issues.
  • Provide assurance across electrical works, HV systems, lifting, work at height, hot works, confined spaces, temporary works and other high-risk activities.
  • Participate in Safety in Design, planning, coordination and commissioning readiness activities.
  • Support incident investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective-action close-out.
  • Produce weekly/monthly EHS reporting and maintain accurate assurance records.
  • Support testing, commissioning, energisation, operational readiness and final project handover.

Candidate Requirements

  • Extensive construction EHS experience, preferably in a client-side, PMC or independent assurance role.
  • Proven experience on data centre, hyperscale or mission-critical projects.
  • Strong experience working within live/operational data centre environments, particularly brownfield upgrades.
  • Experience with shutdowns, tie-ins, switching, LOTO and SIMOPS.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian occupational health & safety legislation and DOSH requirements.
  • Relevant degree/diploma and professional qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH or equivalent.
  • DOSH SHO registration is preferred, together with a valid CIDB Green Card.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment, critical-control verification, auditing and incident investigation.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 principles.
  • Experience with digital EHS systems such as HammerTech is advantageous.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Bahasa Malaysia strongly preferred for workforce engagement.
  • Strong stakeholder-management, reporting and escalation skills.

Desirable Experience

Experience with: Data Centres | Brownfield Upgrades | Hyperscale Projects | HV/Electrical | Generators | MEP | LOTO | SIMOPS | Live Operations | Shutdowns & Tie-ins | Commissioning | Energisation | Critical Controls

Experience on large-scale greenfield data centre projects would also be highly advantageous, particularly covering piling, structural works, substation energisation and commissioning.

Additional Project Opportunity

Subject to project requirements, the successful consultant may have the opportunity to support a second nearby data centre development.

This would provide exposure across the full construction lifecycle, from early works and piling through structural construction, fit-out, energisation, commissioning and handover.

The two projects may overlap, so candidates should be comfortable managing concurrent project coverage and coordinating resources where required.

Apply

If you are an experienced Health & Safety Manager / EHS Manager with a strong data centre, hyperscale or mission-critical construction background and are available for a Malaysia-based project commencing November 2026, please submit your CV for a confidential discussion.
