Network Engineer – IT System IntegratorJob Summary
We are looking for a technically capable and customer-oriented Network Engineer to join our System Integration team.
The Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure for customers. The role involves working closely with Sales, Pre-Sales Engineers, Project Managers, vendors and customers to deliver reliable and secure network solutions.
The successful candidate should have practical experience in enterprise networking and be comfortable working with technologies such as Cisco, Cisco Meraki, firewalls, wireless networks, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs and network security.
The role will involve both project implementation and technical support, including customer site visits, network deployment, troubleshooting and post-implementation support.
Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Network Design & Solution Implementation
- Design, implement and maintain enterprise network infrastructure based on customer requirements.
- Configure and deploy network equipment including switches, routers, wireless access points and network security appliances.
- Develop network solutions in accordance with approved designs, Bills of Materials (BOM) and project specifications.
- Assist Pre-Sales Engineers in validating proposed network solutions and technical designs.
- Participate in technical discussions with customers and provide recommendations based on best practices.
- Perform network assessments and site surveys when required.
- Ensure network implementations comply with customer requirements and industry best practices.
2. Network Configuration
Configure and troubleshoot enterprise networking technologies including:
- Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching
- VLANs and trunking
- STP / RSTP
- Inter-VLAN routing
- Static and dynamic routing
- OSPF
- DHCP

- NAT

3. Cisco & Network Security
Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies will be highly valued.

4. Project Deployment & Implementation
- Participate in customer IT infrastructure projects from planning through implementation.
- Perform installation, configuration and commissioning of network equipment.
- Conduct pre-installation checks and site readiness assessments.
- Coordinate with customers, contractors and vendors during implementation.
- Perform equipment staging and configuration before deployment.
- Execute network migration, upgrade and replacement activities.
- Minimize service disruption during network implementation and migration.
- Conduct testing and validation after implementation.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and project handover.
- Provide technical support during project deployment.
5. Network Troubleshooting & Technical Support
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, performance and configuration issues.
- Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, wireless and Internet connectivity problems.
- Analyse network logs, packet captures and monitoring information where required.
- Troubleshoot routing, switching, VLAN, DHCP, DNS and VPN issues.
- Troubleshoot firewall and security policy-related connectivity issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring network problems.
- Provide remote and onsite technical support.
- Escalate complex issues to senior engineers, vendors or manufacturers when necessary.
- Ensure incidents are resolved within agreed service levels.
6. Network Monitoring & Maintenance
- Monitor customer network infrastructure and identify potential issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance and health checks.
- Review network performance and identify capacity or performance concerns.
- Perform firmware and software upgrades where required.
- Maintain network availability and reliability.
- Recommend improvements, upgrades and technology refreshes to customers.
- Assist in maintaining network security and operational best practices.
7. Network Documentation
Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation, including:
- Network topology diagrams
- Logical and physical network diagrams
- IP addressing schemes
- VLAN documentation
- Network configuration documentation
- Firewall rule documentation
- Equipment inventories
- Configuration backups
- Implementation and migration plans
- Method of Procedure (MOP)
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- As-built documentation
- Test and commissioning reports
Ensure all documentation is updated following changes or project completion.
8. Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding technical matters.
- Attend customer meetings and technical discussions when required.
- Explain technical issues and solutions in a clear and understandable manner.
- Provide progress updates during implementation and troubleshooting activities.
- Maintain a professional relationship with customers.
- Understand customer business requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
- Represent the company professionally at customer sites.
9. Vendor & Technology Partner Coordination
- Work with technology vendors, distributors and technical support teams.
- Open and manage vendor technical support cases where required.
- Coordinate troubleshooting and replacement of faulty equipment.
- Participate in vendor training, technical workshops and certification programs.
- Keep up to date with new networking technologies and product releases.
- Assist the sales and pre-sales teams with technical information when required.
10. Technical Support for Sales & Pre-Sales
- Assist the Sales and Pre-Sales teams with technical requirements.
- Participate in customer technical presentations and demonstrations.
- Provide technical input for proposals and tenders.
- Review technical specifications and Statements of Work (SOW).
- Assist with preparation of technical BOMs.
- Conduct Proof of Concept (POC) activities where required.
- Provide technical recommendations during customer discussions.
- Assist in solution sizing and equipment selection.
11. Project Handover & Post-Implementation Support
- Ensure completed projects are properly documented and handed over to the support team.
- Conduct knowledge transfer to internal technical teams.
- Provide post-implementation support during the warranty period.
- Assist in resolving issues identified after project deployment.
- Ensure customer acceptance criteria are fulfilled.
- Maintain proper project closure documentation.

Candidate Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Engineering or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in network engineering, system integration or IT infrastructure is preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise networking equipment.
- Practical experience in Cisco networking will be an advantage.
- Experience with network implementation and troubleshooting.
- Experience working in an IT System Integrator, Managed Service Provider, VAR or technology vendor environment is preferred.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP networking.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good documentation and technical writing skills.
- Good communication and customer-facing skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Willing to travel to customer sites when required.
- Willing to work outside normal business hours for scheduled maintenance or migration activities.

Overall Objective of the Position
The primary objective of the Network Engineer is to successfully design, deploy, configure, troubleshoot and maintain reliable and secure network infrastructure for customers while ensuring projects are delivered professionally, within scope and according to agreed timelines.
The Network Engineer is expected to take technical ownership of assigned projects and support activities from:

The role should also contribute technical expertise to the company's pre-sales, solution development and customer engagement activities.
Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
