Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner to plan, prepare, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure reliable plant operations, minimise equipment downtime, and optimise the utilisation of manpower, materials, tools, and other resources.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing maintenance work requests, conducting field checks, developing detailed job plans and work packages, managing work orders through CMMS/SAP Plant Maintenance (PM), and ensuring all necessary resources are available prior to execution.

The Maintenance Planner will work closely with Maintenance, Operations, MAC, contractors, and vendors to coordinate preventive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities in line with production requirements and maintenance priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and coordinate maintenance activities to support safe and reliable plant operations.
  • Review maintenance work requests and assess the requirements, priorities, scope, and resources needed for execution.
  • Conduct field checks to verify job requirements, equipment condition, accessibility, and work scope.
  • Develop detailed job plans, work orders, and job packages for maintenance activities.
  • Plan and schedule:
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Corrective maintenance
  • Breakdown maintenance
  • Shutdown / turnaround maintenance
  • Sequence maintenance tasks and estimate required duration, manpower, materials, tools, equipment, and other resources.
  • Ensure all required materials, spare parts, tools, manpower, and services are available before maintenance execution.
  • Manage and maintain maintenance work orders in CMMS / SAP PM.
  • Prepare complete job packages including:
  • Work procedures
  • Engineering drawings
  • Checklists
  • Material requirements
  • Tools and equipment requirements
  • Manpower requirements
  • Safety / HSSE requirements
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules with Operations and Production to minimise disruption to plant activities.
  • Work closely with Maintenance teams, MAC, Operations, contractors, and vendors to ensure maintenance activities are properly planned and scheduled.
  • Monitor maintenance backlog, outstanding work orders, and job readiness.
  • Support the coordination and planning of major shutdown and turnaround activities.
  • Ensure maintenance plans are aligned with plant priorities, production requirements, and available resources.
  • Provide basic cost estimates for maintenance activities and support the development of basic contracting strategies where required.
  • Review maintenance history and equipment information to improve future job planning.
  • Analyse maintenance data and performance to identify planning gaps, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support initiatives to improve equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, cost efficiency, and overall planning performance.
  • Ensure all maintenance planning and preparation activities comply with Company procedures, safety requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Prepare maintenance planning reports, schedules, progress updates, and other required documentation.

  • Familiarity with maintenance master data and equipment history
  • Ability to utilise maintenance data for planning and performance improvement

Resource Planning

Ability to plan and coordinate:

  • Manpower
  • Tools and equipment
  • Spare parts and materials
  • External services
  • Contractor resources
  • Maintenance work requirements

Technical Knowledge

The candidate should have a good understanding of plant equipment and systems, including:

  • Rotating equipment
  • Electrical systems and equipment
  • Instrumentation and control systems
  • Mechanical equipment
  • Other relevant plant systems

Candidates should also:

  • Understand preventive and predictive maintenance concepts.
  • Be able to interpret basic engineering drawings.
  • Understand maintenance procedures and work execution requirements.
  • Have basic knowledge of maintenance cost estimation and contracting strategies.

The Maintenance Planner will work closely with:

  • Engineering teams
  • Warehouse / Materials teams
  • Other relevant stakeholders

The role is responsible for ensuring effective communication and coordination so that maintenance activities can be executed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in the related industry as required by the Company.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline, or equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant experience in maintenance planning and scheduling, preferably within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Manufacturing, Power Generation, or other process industries.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, work order management, and job package preparation.
  • Familiar with SAP ECC6 – Plant Maintenance (PM) Module.
  • Experience with CMMS / maintenance management systems.
  • Good understanding of plant equipment and maintenance activities.
  • Strong planning, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer applications.
  • Strong report writing and documentation skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively with Operations, Maintenance, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple maintenance activities according to priorities and deadlines.
  • Willing to support shutdown, turnaround, and critical maintenance activities when required.
