About The Job
In this role, the successful candidate will join our client as the Manager, Credit Review, serving as a key fraud risk gatekeeper and quality reviewer within the hire purchase financing workflow. Based in Bandar Utama, the incumbent will ensure that loan approvals rely on genuine documentation, verified counterparties, and legitimate borrower intent. Beyond fraud prevention, the role oversees post-approval quality reviews, SAS-based rule engine development, scorecard management, and regulatory compliance support.

Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Approval & Fraud Review: Screen high-risk loan applications, verify applicant identity, detect document fraud (e.g., bank statements, salary slips), and conduct dealer legitimacy checks.
- Red Flag & Pattern Analysis: Monitor application patterns, synthetic identities, and fraud scoring watchlists to identify suspicious activity early.
- Investigations & Compliance: Issue application holds/rejections, refer cases for deeper investigation, coordinate with legal/compliance teams, and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) under local AML regulations.
- Post-Approval Quality Assessment: Review credit approval decisions against internal credit guidelines, assess process quality, and conduct post-mortems on early delinquent or non-performing loans.
- Decision Engine & Analytics: Design, implement, and maintain credit scorecards, instinct rules, and automated filters using SAS programming to optimize decision efficiency and accuracy.
- Regulatory & Project Support: Support ad-hoc Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) CCRIS reporting/rectifications and lead key departmental expansion initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Banking, or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience: 8 to 12 years of experience in credit evaluation with proven hands-on exposure to fraud detection and investigation.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in SAS programming with demonstrated experience building and deploying rule-based decision engines and credit scorecards.
- Certifications: Possession of Certified Credit Executive (CCE) or Certified Credit Reporter (CCR) certifications.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Prior exposure to CCRIS and attending to BNM regulatory reporting requests is an added advantage.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and people management capabilities with proven experience leading a team.
About The Manager/team
The Credit Review team functions as an independent second-line defense, reporting directly to senior credit and risk leadership. The team collaborates closely with credit evaluation, sales/dealership management, asset management, and legal/compliance units. It offers a structured, data-driven environment focused on continuous process automation, analytics, and robust risk controls.
