Job Description

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all tax related decisions and activities in the organization. You will help us stay tax-compliant and up-to-date on new tax laws.


1. Corporate Tax Compliance

  • oversee the Bank's corporate income tax compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Review tax computations, tax returns, tax estimates and related statutory submissions.
  • Ensure timely submission of tax returns, estimates and payments in accordance with applicable statutory deadlines.
  • Review tax provisions, current tax and deferred tax balances in coordination with the Reporting team.
  • Monitor tax balances and tax-related general ledger accounts and ensure appropriate reconciliation.
  • Coordinate with external tax agents to ensure quality, accuracy and timely completion of tax compliance work.

2. Transfer Pricing

  • Oversee the Bank's transfer pricing compliance and governance requirements.
  • Coordinate preparation and review of transfer pricing documentation.
  • Review related-party transactions and assess transfer pricing implications.
  • Work closely with Reporting team and relevant business units to ensure intercompany transactions are appropriately documented and supported.
  • Monitor developments in Malaysian transfer pricing legislation and IRBM guidelines and assess their impact on the Bank.

3. e-Invoice Data Quality & Control

  • Establish minimum data-quality standards for e-Invoice submission.
  • Define ownership of e-Invoice data across relevant departments.
  • Perform periodic sample checks on e-Invoice transactions.
  • Analyse root causes of recurring data-input errors.
  • Work with process owners to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain an e-Invoice issue log and monitor outstanding exceptions.
  • Ensure that tax-sensitive master data is appropriately reviewed and controlled.
  • Maintain an appropriate audit trail for amendments to e-Invoice-related data.

4. Indirect Tax & Withholding Tax

  • Oversee applicable Service Tax (SST), withholding tax and other indirect tax matters.
  • Ensure appropriate tax treatment is applied to payments to local and overseas vendors, service providers and other counterparties.
  • Review withholding tax obligations on cross-border transactions.
  • Provide guidance to business units on tax implications arising from contracts and commercial arrangements.
  • Work with relevant departments to strengthen indirect tax controls and processes.

5. Tax Governance & Internal Controls

  • Establish and maintain appropriate tax policies, procedures, SOPs and internal controls.
  • Conduct periodic tax risk assessments and identify areas requiring management attention.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and audit trails are maintained for significant tax positions.

6. Tax Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Work closely with Reporting teams on tax-related accounting matters.
  • Review current tax and deferred tax calculations and disclosures.
  • Support the preparation of annual and interim financial statements in relation to tax matters.
  • Liaise with external auditors on tax accounting, tax provisions and significant tax judgements.
  • Ensure tax-related financial reporting is accurate and properly supported.

7. Tax Legislative Monitoring & Business Support

  • Monitor changes to Malaysian tax legislation, IRBM guidelines, tax rulings and other relevant regulatory developments.
  • Assess the potential impact of new tax requirements on the Bank.
  • Coordinate implementation of new tax requirements across relevant business functions
  • Provide practical tax advice to management and business units on new products, transactions, contracts, investments and business initiatives.
  • Assess the tax implications of proposed business arrangements, restructuring, financing and other commercial transactions.
  • Review significant agreements and contracts from a Malaysian tax perspective.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 8+ years' of experience of professional tax experience
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
