Summary:
He/She is responsible for conducting marine surveys and assessments in offshore environments to support various projects, including oil and gas, renewable energy and marine construction. This role involves the use of specialized equipment and software to gather, analyze and interpret data related to seabed conditions, underwater structures and environmental impact. He/She collaborates with project teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of survey data and reports.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Conduct Surveys: Perform hydrographic, geophysical and geotechnical surveys in offshore environments using advanced surveying techniques and equipment.
- Data Collection: Utilize GPS, sonar and other surveying instruments to collect and record data on seabed topography, sub-sea structures and environmental conditions.
- Data Analysis: Analyze survey data and generate detailed reports, maps and charts to inform project planning and decision-making.
- Project Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers and other stakeholders to support project goals and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all surveying equipment is properly calibrated, maintained and operated safely during surveys.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health, safety and environmental regulations and protocols while working offshore.
- Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during surveys, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of survey activities, data collected and any deviations from planned methodologies.
Requirements:
- Candidate must possess Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Ocean Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant offshore surveying experience, preferably in the oil and gas or marine construction industries.
- Professional Surveyor License (if applicable) and certifications in offshore safety (e.g., BOSIET, HUET).
- Proficiency in surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS applications) and data analysis tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for report writing and collaboration with team members and clients.
- Ability to work in challenging offshore conditions and perform physical tasks as required.
