Responsibilities

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Managing Doctor to lead an established primary care clinic in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.

This is a hands-on clinical and management role combining active medical practice with responsibility for clinical standards, clinic operations, staff leadership, patient experience and service development.

The Managing Doctor will work directly with Management and will be supported by dedicated HR, Marketing, Finance, Maintenance, Housekeeping and administrative teams.

We are looking for a doctor who enjoys clinical practice but also wants the opportunity to lead, improve and grow a clinic.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Leadership

  • Maintain an active clinical practice and provide high-quality primary care consultations.
  • Serve as the senior clinical lead within the clinic.
  • Supervise and guide doctors, nurses and other clinical personnel.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical documentation, patient safety and continuity of care.
  • Develop, review and implement appropriate clinical protocols and SOPs.
  • Ensure appropriate investigation, treatment, referral and follow-up of patients.

2. Clinic Operations

  • Oversee the effective day-to-day operation of the clinic.
  • Work closely with the Clinic Supervisor to maintain efficient patient flow and service delivery.
  • Identify operational problems and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Coordinate with HR, Maintenance, Housekeeping and other support departments where required.
  • Ensure appropriate management of clinic stock, equipment and resources.
  • Oversee effective TPA and panel administration together with the relevant clinic personnel.

3. Staff Leadership

  • Provide leadership and direction to clinic staff.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training and performance reviews together with HR.
  • Establish clear standards of accountability, professionalism and teamwork.
  • Identify staff training and competency requirements.
  • Address recurring performance or conduct issues through the appropriate management and HR processes.

4. Patient Experience & Customer Relations

  • Oversee patient experience and customer-service standards throughout the clinic.
  • Work through the Clinic Supervisor to ensure the front desk operates efficiently and professionally.
  • Ensure enquiries, appointments, patient follow-up and complaints are managed appropriately.
  • Review significant patient complaints and ensure appropriate resolution and corrective action.
  • Promote patient retention, continuity of care and appropriate follow-up.

5. Clinic Performance & Service Development

  • Review clinic patient volume, revenue, service utilisation and key performance indicators with Management.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen existing services and introduce appropriate new healthcare services.
  • Develop practical proposals for new services based on patient needs and market opportunities.
  • Work with Marketing on clinical priorities, campaigns and patient-education initiatives and review their effectiveness.
  • Work with Finance and Management to understand clinic performance and significant revenue or cost variances.
  • Lead the clinical implementation of approved new services and campaigns.
  • Strengthen panel, corporate and community healthcare relationships where appropriate.

6. Quality, Compliance & Licensing

  • Ensure compliance with applicable MOH and CKAPS requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate licensing, documentation and inspection readiness.
  • Ensure clinic SOPs and clinical policies remain current and are followed.
  • Participate in clinical audits, incident reviews and quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure identified deficiencies are followed through to appropriate corrective action.

7. Reporting & Management Coordination

  • Provide Management with a concise monthly review of clinic performance.
  • Highlight key clinical, operational, staffing, customer-service and business issues requiring attention.
  • Recommend practical improvement measures and follow through on agreed actions.
  • Coordinate effectively with HR, Marketing, Finance, Maintenance, Housekeeping and other support departments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBBS/MD or recognized equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full MMC registration and valid APC.
  • Strong primary-care/GP experience.
  • Previous clinic management, medical leadership or healthcare operations experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with private primary care, MOH/CKAPS requirements, panels and TPA operations would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.

The Candidate We Are Looking For

We are particularly interested in a doctor who:

  • Is clinically competent and enjoys remaining hands-on with patients.
  • Wants responsibility beyond routine consultations.
  • Can lead people and hold a team accountable.
  • Takes ownership of problems and follows them through to resolution.
  • Understands the importance of patient experience and customer service.
  • Can interpret basic clinic performance and sales/revenue information and use it to identify areas for improvement.
  • Can engage effectively with Marketing and other support departments rather than expecting Management to drive every initiative.
  • Can identify viable new services and help translate ideas into practical implementation.
  • Is commercially aware while maintaining appropriate clinical and ethical standards.

Remuneration

Competitive basic salary + management allowance + performance-based incentives, commensurate with experience.

This position offers the opportunity for an experienced doctor to take genuine ownership of an established clinic while having access to the support functions required to manage and grow it successfully.
