Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Summary :

The Interior Designer – Outlet Development is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing interior design concepts for the Company's outlets, ensuring that all outlet spaces are functional, visually appealing, cost-effective and aligned with the Company's brand identity and operational requirements.

The role will oversee the design process from initial concept, space planning and technical drawings through to material selection, renovation execution and final handover.

Key Responsibilities :

A. Outlet Design & Concept Development

  • Develop interior design concepts for new, existing and renovated outlets.
  • Ensure outlet designs are aligned with the Company's brand identity, design guidelines and customer experience objectives.
  • Translate operational requirements into practical and efficient outlet layouts.
  • Develop design proposals, mood boards, colour schemes, material selections and design presentations.
  • Propose design improvements for existing outlets to enhance functionality, appearance and customer experience.

B. Space Planning & Layout

  • Prepare and review outlet space planning and layout arrangements.
  • Optimise the use of available space for:
  • Dining area
  • Kitchen
  • Counter/cashier area
  • Waiting area
  • Storage
  • Staff area
  • Customer flow
  • Back-of-house operations
  • Ensure the proposed layout supports smooth operational workflow and customer movement.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure designs are practical for day-to-day outlet operations.

C. Technical Drawings & Design Documentation

  • Prepare or coordinate preparation of:
  • Floor plans
  • Furniture layouts
  • Ceiling plans
  • Elevations
  • Interior details
  • Joinery details
  • Material specifications
  • Other relevant technical drawings
  • Ensure drawings are accurate, complete and suitable for contractor execution.
  • Review drawings and identify design or technical issues before work commences.

D. Renovation & Site Coordination

  • Conduct site visits, site measurements and existing-condition assessments.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and relevant internal departments throughout renovation works.
  • Monitor renovation progress to ensure work is carried out according to approved design, drawings and specifications.
  • Identify site issues and provide practical design solutions.
  • Attend site meetings and coordinate design-related matters.
  • Conduct site inspections and follow up on rectification works.
  • Support final inspection and handover of completed outlets.

E. Material & Finishing Selection

  • Select suitable materials, finishes, fixtures, furniture and fittings based on design, durability, functionality and budget.
  • Source and evaluate suitable materials and suppliers.
  • Ensure selected materials are practical for a high-traffic F&B environment and easy to maintain.
  • Maintain consistency of materials and finishes across outlets where required.

F. Cost & Budget Management

  • Develop preliminary design cost estimates and assist in preparing renovation budgets.
  • Work with Procurement and relevant departments to obtain quotations and compare costs.
  • Recommend cost-effective alternatives without compromising design quality, functionality or brand standards.
  • Monitor design-related costs and identify potential cost savings.
  • Ensure design proposals remain within the approved budget.

G. Contractor & Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers and vendors on design and renovation matters.
  • Review contractor proposals, shop drawings, samples and material submissions.
  • Clarify design requirements and provide necessary technical information.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in evaluating contractor workmanship and quality.

H. Brand & Outlet Standardisation

  • Ensure all outlets comply with approved interior design standards and brand guidelines.
  • Maintain consistency in key design elements across the outlet network.
  • Develop and maintain standard design references, material specifications and design guidelines.
  • Recommend design improvements based on operational feedback and outlet performance.

I. New Outlet Opening Support

  • Support the design and development process for new outlet openings.
  • Conduct site assessment and identify design requirements before renovation.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Project, Procurement, Marketing and other relevant departments.
  • Ensure the outlet is completed according to the approved design and opening timeline.
  • Assist with final snagging and handover before opening.

J. Existing Outlet Improvement

  • Conduct periodic assessment of existing outlets and identify areas requiring refurbishment, repair or design improvement.
  • Propose renovation or refresh concepts based on outlet condition and business requirements.
  • Recommend improvements to customer-facing areas, furniture, lighting, signage and overall outlet appearance.

K. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain updated design drawings, specifications, material selections and project documentation.
  • Maintain records of completed, ongoing and upcoming outlet projects.
  • Prepare regular project progress updates for Management.
  • Track design-related issues, variations and outstanding works until completion.

L. Other Responsibilities

  • Stay updated on current interior design trends, materials and F&B outlet design practices.
  • Provide design recommendations and technical input to Management.
  • Perform other duties related to outlet design and development as assigned by Management.

Qualification & Experience :

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Design or related field.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in interior design, preferably in F&B, retail, hospitality or commercial projects.
  • Experience handling multiple outlet projects will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D rendering software, Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of space planning, materials, finishes, furniture, lighting and construction details.
  • Experience in site coordination and working with contractors is preferred.
  • Good understanding of renovation processes and basic construction works.
  • Willing to travel to different outlets and project sites as required.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
