Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Description:

  • Analyze process flows, routings, and capacity requirements for transferred products to establish efficient and sustainable production processes.
  • Develop production line and cell layouts, staffing models, cycle-time and takt-time models across machining, optics, assembly, and testing operations.
  • Develop and maintain standard work, work instructions, training materials, and process documentation.
  • Support equipment and fixture qualification, pilot builds, and process validation activities, including FAI, IQ, OQ, and PQ.
  • Lead line balancing, bottleneck identification, and capacity optimization during production ramp-up to achieve target production rates.
  • Lead early-life production problem solving and Kaizen events to close performance gaps and stabilize new or transferred processes.
  • Document and execute production handover to ensure a fully qualified, stable, and sustainable production line.
  • Provide industrial engineering support for cleanroom and non-cleanroom assembly operations, as well as environmental testing.
  • Conduct ongoing capacity planning, line balancing, and layout optimization in response to changes in production volume, product mix, and process requirements.
  • Conduct time studies and continuously improve standard work, workflow, ergonomics, and material flow.
  • Drive improvements in OEE, downtime, cycle time, and yield through structured problem-solving methodologies such as A3 and 8D, as well as Kaizen initiatives.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, and Continuous Improvement Engineering teams to support new product introductions, process transfers, and engineering changes.
  • Collaborate with Machining and Optics Industrial Engineering teams on site-wide capacity planning, cross-training, resource optimization, and shared improvement projects.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • At least 3 to 6 years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or process engineering, preferably in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing, precision machining, optics, cleanroom assembly, or environmental testing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in line balancing, capacity planning and modeling, time studies, takt-time analysis, and standard work development.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions (NPI), product transfers, production ramp-up, and equipment or process qualification.
  • Proficiency in CAD and production layout tools, Microsoft Excel, and data/capacity analysis.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher.
  • Experience working in cleanroom assembly or environmental testing operations.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and standards such as AS9100, ISO 13485, or ISO 9001.
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies, including A3, 8D, and Kaizen.
  • Exposure to project management, including project timelines, milestone tracking, risk management, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
