Company Description GMT Machinery Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian company established in 2004 that supplies high-quality bakery machines, ovens, and bread roll lines to bakeries across the country. With a team of around 20 employees, the company supports both artisan and commercial bakeries in optimizing their production processes. GMT Machinery provides equipment for every stage of bakery production, including kneading, mixing, baking, cooling, and freezing. The company focuses on tailored machinery and comprehensive project solutions for bread and roll production, catering to a wide range of local tastes and preferences. Interns joining GMT Machinery can expect to gain hands-on exposure to industrial bakery equipment and production systems.

Role Description The Mechanical Engineer Intern will support the engineering team in the design, installation, and maintenance of bakery machinery and production lines. Day-to-day tasks may include assisting in drafting and updating mechanical drawings, performing basic calculations and design checks, and helping prepare technical documentation and reports. The intern will participate in on-site equipment inspections, troubleshooting, and performance testing, under the guidance of senior engineers. The role also involves collaborating with production and service teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This is an internship role, based on-site in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Foundational mechanical engineering skills, including understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and use basic CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Basic knowledge of industrial machinery, motion systems, and mechanical components such as bearings, gears, and conveyor systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform simple engineering calculations and assist in troubleshooting.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineering, production, and service teams.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Willingness to work on-site in a manufacturing and industrial environment and learn through hands-on tasks.
• Interest in food processing or bakery production machinery is an advantage; prior internship or project experience in industrial equipment is a plus.
