Senior Infrastructure Monitoring & Automation Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur

Employment Type: Yearly Renewable contract

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Monitoring & Automation Engineer to support enterprise IT infrastructure and application monitoring environments.

The role will be responsible for monitoring operations, automation, production support, system troubleshooting, infrastructure/application improvements, and deployment activities across Linux and Windows environments. The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure teams, application teams, vendors, and clients to ensure high availability, operational stability, and timely resolution of technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support Infrastructure Monitoring and Automation operations.
• Provide Level 2 / Level 3 technical support for monitoring platforms, infrastructure services, and applications.
• Monitor system and application availability, performance, events, and alerts.
• Perform incident investigation, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
• Plan and execute system/application upgrades, enhancements, and improvement initiatives.
• Support SIT, UAT, QA, and production deployment activities.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts to reduce manual and repetitive operational tasks.
• Automate monitoring configuration, server deployment, data gathering, housekeeping, reporting, and operational activities.
• Manage monitoring platforms such as Nagios, BMC TrueSight, CA NSM, SCOM, HP OVO, Splunk, or similar tools.
• Support monitoring across Linux/Unix and Windows server environments.
• Work with application and infrastructure teams to investigate technical issues and implement permanent solutions.
• Coordinate with vendors and clients on incidents, enhancements, system changes, and technical requirements.
• Ensure infrastructure and monitoring services comply with applicable IT security, audit, governance, and operational requirements.
• Participate in IT audits, compliance activities, and service reviews.
• Prepare technical documentation, operational procedures, reports, and knowledge-transfer materials.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and reduction of repetitive manual activities.

Technical Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure Monitoring, System Engineering, IT Operations, Application Support, or a related technical role.
• Strong experience in Infrastructure / Application Monitoring.
• Hands-on experience with one or more monitoring platforms such as:
• Nagios / Nagios XI
• BMC TrueSight
• CA NSM
• BMC Patrol
• SCOM
• HP OVO
• Splunk
• Netgain or equivalent monitoring solutions.
• Good knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments.
• Experience with Shell/Bash, Batch, Perl, or PowerShell scripting for automation.
• Experience supporting production environments and handling technical incidents/escalations.
• Experience with SIT, UAT, testing, deployment, and change activities.
• Good understanding of system/application performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Exposure to Java applications, WebLogic, Oracle databases, APIs, XML, SOAP, HTTP, or similar enterprise technologies is advantageous.
• Experience working with vendors, clients, infrastructure teams, application teams, and technical stakeholders.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in banking, financial services, insurance, telecommunications, or other large enterprise environments.
• Experience with monitoring migration, platform upgrades, or monitoring tool implementation.
• Experience developing automation to reduce manual operational activities.
• Experience supporting IT audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Relevant monitoring, infrastructure, Linux, automation, or IT operations certifications.
