Job Summary

Perform surface preparation, paint application, and finishing tasks following blueprints and instructions. Prepare work sites, mix materials, and apply coatings safely while maintaining quality and adhering to health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and instructions to assess surfaces and determine required painting work
• Prepare work sites by building scaffolding and covering fixtures to ensure safety and efficiency
• Prepare walls and surfaces by scraping, sanding, and removing old paint to create a smooth base
• Fill cracks and holes with appropriate materials such as plaster to ensure surface integrity
• Mix paint and other materials to achieve the correct color and texture for each project
• Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using various tools according to instructions
• Calculate project costs and negotiate prices to support budgeting and client agreements
• Follow all health and safety precautions to maintain a safe work environment
• Use manual dexterity and maintain balance when working on scaffolding, ladders, and elevated surfaces
• Demonstrate attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes and customer satisfaction

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Proven experience as a painter
• Excellent knowledge of painting materials and techniques for selection, mixing, and application
• Solid knowledge of commercial and construction painting methods
• Aptitude in using painting tools such as brushes and caulking guns
