Roles & Responsibilities
To lead the organisation’s construction productivity transformation by defining strategy, governing deployment, and scaling the adoption of robotics, automation systems, mechanised equipment, and innovative construction technologies across multiple project sites. The role owns the roadmap, business case, vendor ecosystem, and capability-building required to deliver measurable gains in safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance.
1. Strategy, Roadmap & Governance
- Establish standards, playbooks, and governance for technology selection, piloting, rollout, and decommissioning.
- Set KPIs for productivity, utilisation, safety, and ROI; track performance at portfolio and project levels.
2. Technology Portfolio & Investment Decisions
- Lead market scanning, benchmarking, and feasibility studies for emerging robotics, automation, and digital-twin–enabled solutions.
- Own business cases, cost–benefit analyses, and risk assessments for new solutions; prioritise investments based on impact and scalability.
3. Programme & Site Deployment Leadership
- Plan and direct multi-site deployment programmes, including installation, commissioning, integration with site workflows, and change management.
- Resolve cross-project blockers (permissions, interfaces, data, logistics) and escalate strategic risks early.
4. Productivity & Continuous Improvement
- Lead productivity studies across labour-intensive activities; design automation alternatives and enhancement programmes.
- Quantify gains (time, cost, manpower, rework, safety) and institutionalise lessons learned into standards and templates.
5. Vendor, Partner & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate demos, trials, and joint development; hold vendors accountable to performance, uptime, and support commitments.
- Align internal stakeholders (operations, safety, procurement, IT, finance) and secure buy-in through clear value narratives.
6. Capability Building & Organisation Development
- Design and deliver training programmes for site personnel, supervisors, and project managers on robotic systems and digital workflows.
- Foster a learning organisation through playbooks, communities of practice, and knowledge sharing across projects.
Job Requirements
Education
Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Automation, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience (for Assistant Manager Role)
- Typically more than 8 years in construction, with at least 4–6 years leading robotics, automation, mechanisation, or productivity improvement initiatives on live sites.
- Strong track record of taking technologies from concept/trial → pilot → scaled deployment across multiple sites and project types.
- Experience managing vendors, contracts, and budgets
- Exposure to grant-funded initiatives, innovation programmes, or industry collaborations is highly advantageous.
Experience (for Senior Engineer Role)
- Typically 5–8 years in construction, with at least 2–3 years leading robotics, automation, mechanisation, or productivity improvement initiatives on live sites.
- Proven ability to lead implementation and optimisation of robotic/automated systems on multiple projects, with clear evidence of productivity and safety improvements.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, site trials, and operational budgets, and coordinating with project managers and site teams.
- Capable of driving pilots and early-scale deployments, documenting lessons learned, and recommending wider rollout.
- Exposure to grant applications, innovation trials, or research collaborations is a plus.
Note: Singaporean or PR is preferred.
