About Upstream BPO

Established in 2014, Upstream BPO is a Malaysia-headquartered business process outsourcing and customer experience solutions provider, supporting businesses across multiple industries and international markets.

Our services include Customer Experience & Contact Centre Outsourcing, Sales Outsourcing, B2B Lead Generation, Back-Office Operations, Finance & Accounting Outsourcing, Content Moderation, Data Annotation and AI-enabled Business Solutions.

We combine human expertise with AI-powered technology to deliver scalable outsourcing solutions.

As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking an ambitious, commercially driven Business Development Manager who can help us expand our customer portfolio in Malaysia, Singapore and international markets.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a hunter, not just an account manager.

Your primary responsibility will be to identify, approach and acquire new corporate clients requiring BPO and outsourcing services.

You will take ownership of the business development pipeline, from identifying target companies and connecting with decision-makers to qualifying opportunities, coordinating proposals, negotiating and securing new contracts.

You will work directly with senior management and our operations and solutions teams to develop competitive outsourcing proposals.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and acquire new BPO and outsourcing clients in Malaysia, Singapore and international markets.
Develop a structured prospecting strategy targeting companies with outsourcing requirements.
Research organisations, identify decision-makers and engage CEOs, COOs, Heads of Customer Experience, Procurement Directors and other relevant stakeholders.
Generate business opportunities through LinkedIn, email outreach, professional networking, referrals, cold calling and industry events.
Independently arrange qualified client meetings and conduct initial business discussions.
Understand client requirements, outsourcing challenges, expected volumes, service levels and commercial expectations.
Coordinate with internal teams to prepare proposals, RFP responses, presentations and pricing solutions.
Manage negotiations and support contract closure.
Develop and maintain an accurate sales pipeline, forecasts and CRM records.
Build strategic relationships with potential clients and referral partners.
Consistently achieve agreed targets for qualified opportunities, pipeline development and new client acquisition.

Requirements

Essential:

Minimum 3 years of B2B business development or enterprise sales experience.
Proven ability to generate new business opportunities and engage corporate decision-makers.
Strong prospecting, negotiation, relationship-building and communication skills.
Experience managing the sales cycle from lead generation through proposal and closing.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and deliver measurable results.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Familiarity with LinkedIn prospecting, CRM systems and structured sales pipelines.

Highly Preferred:

Previous business development experience in the BPO, contact centre, customer experience or outsourcing industry.
Demonstrated success acquiring corporate outsourcing contracts.
Existing professional relationships with outsourcing decision-makers.
Experience handling RFPs, RFIs, tenders and complex enterprise sales cycles.
Experience selling services to Malaysian, Singaporean or international clients.
Understanding of contact centre operations, staffing models, SLAs and commercial pricing.

What Success Looks Like

We expect the successful candidate to:

Build a consistent, qualified pipeline of potential BPO customers.
Establish relationships with relevant corporate decision-makers.
Generate genuine opportunities for outsourcing projects.
Progress opportunities from initial contact to proposal and commercial negotiation.
Contribute directly to winning new, profitable outsourcing contracts.

Performance will be measured by qualified pipeline development, client engagement, proposal opportunities, contract wins and revenue generation.

What We Offer

Competitive basic salary of RM6,000–RM9,000, depending on experience.
Attractive performance-based commissions for successful client acquisition.
Opportunity to work directly with senior management.
Access to operational, technical and solution-design support.
Opportunity to develop regional and international enterprise accounts.
Career growth opportunities as our business expands internationally.
Exposure to modern AI-enabled BPO and customer experience solutions.

Important Information for Applicants

This is a corporate B2B business development position focused on selling outsourcing services not a telesales agent or consumer product sales role.

Candidates with relevant BPO industry experience and demonstrated new-client acquisition success will receive preference.

How to Apply

Please submit your CV and, where possible, provide a brief summary of:

Your experience acquiring new corporate clients.
The types of services or solutions you have successfully sold.
Your experience in BPO, outsourcing or enterprise services.
