The Analytics & Social unit supports MOF’s policy-making process via the application of data analytics and management of data resources. It is part of the Economic & Fiscal Analysis directorate, which is responsible for research and analysis on a range of fiscal, economic and social policy issues key to MOF.
The Economic Programmes Directorate in MOF works closely with economic agencies to strengthen Singapore’s economic competitiveness and advance Singapore’s interests as a key global node of technology, innovation and enterprise. We determine how resources (including grants, tax incentives, loans, equity, and other tools) are optimally allocated across economic programmes to realise value for Singapore, including good growth and job creation. We also formulate policies to nurture a pro-business and trusted business environment which is conducive for business renewal and growth. In addition, we conduct data analysis on the business environment and firms’ needs and work closely with IRAS to build functional leadership on broad-based disbursements to businesses.

- The Fiscal Policy Directorate in MOF is responsible for formulating and implementing fiscal strategies and frameworks to optimise the allocation of finite public resources, to maintain macroeconomic stability (e.g. through countercyclical fiscal policies), support economic growth, and promote social equity. This requires making difficult trade-offs across competing strategic priorities in the social, economic, security and infrastructure domains, while considering progressivity and inter-generational equity.
