  • Job Description Gain a comprehensive understanding of the ship-broking industry. Assist in following up vessel's operations and itinerary. Learn how to anticipate potential problems or incidents that may occur. Communicate effectively and timely with various stakeholders, including vessel owners, charterers, port authorities, and agents, but also the fixing shipbrokers. Ensure that emails and other means of communication received are timely attended and properly handled. Learn and adhere to industry regulations, operational procedures, and compliance standards. Collaborate with team members to resolve operational issues efficiently. Support the counter parties on demurrage and other claims pertaining to the allocated or other shipments. Issue broker comm invoice and follow up outstanding broker comm invoice (if any). Duly update the in-house tracking software. Participate in on-the-job training sessions to develop practical skills and knowledge. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. No prior academic background in shipping are welcome willingness to learn, excel and work hard. Strong work ethic. This position entices working after hour office hours almost daily, and to monitor certain operational issues over the weekends. Time management skills are essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The Chemical Ship-broking department in Singapore is a multi-cultural environment, and we also have to daily liaise with our colleagues in Madrid and Houston. Our office in Singapore has over 100 employees and 19 different nationalities. Our clients and counterparts are based across Asia, Europe, Middle East and USA. Therefore the ability to successfully communicate in different ways is essential to satisfactorily develop the business. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. There is a very limited number of standardized procedures to perform the job satisfactorily, so is also essential to have a flexible, 'out-of-the box' and open-minded approach to the work tasks. Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office). This trainee position involved a fully in-house and hands-on training, with the candidate committed at least 1 year in the operation, post-fixture and claims department before mutually discussing further career projection with the supervisors. Entertainment of clients may be required from time to time.
