HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad was incorporated locally in Malaysia on 1 October 1984. It is part of the HSBC Group and is a wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC Holdings plc, headquartered in London. Locally, HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad serves customers through a network of over 60 branches nationwide, with about a third of these being branches of its Islamic Banking subsidiary, HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad.

HSBC Bank Malaysia is the largest foreign-owned bank in Malaysia by asset size, offering a full range of personal and commercial banking services through its branch network and direct channels. Additionally, HSBC has been providing Islamic financial services in Malaysia since August 2006 through its Islamic banking subsidiary, HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad.
