Tentang MAA Group Berhad

MAA Group Berhad (“MAAG”) is a Malaysian investment holding company listed on Bursa Malaysia's Main Board. With a rich history dating back to 1968 as Malaysian American Assurance Company Berhad (“MAAB”), the company was initially involved in General and Life insurance businesses. Over the years, it evolved and changed its name to Malaysian Assurance Alliance Berhad (“MAA Assurance”).

In 1998, MAAG (formerly known as MAA Holdings Berhad) was established as the holding company of MAA Assurance and other non-insurance subsidiaries through a corporate restructuring exercise. In 2011, it became MAAG after selling MAA Assurance to Zurich Insurance Company Limited ("Zurich Insurance").

MAAG has a diverse business portfolio that includes Conventional Life and General Insurance, Unit Trust, Family Takaful and General Takaful businesses, Asset Management, Trust Fund, Property Management and Services, Information Technology, and Security Services. However, in 2016, it exited the local financial services sector by selling its stake in MAA Takaful Berhad (now known as Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad) to Zurich Insurance.

Currently, MAAG's significant business segments include General Insurance in the Philippines through its subsidiary, MAA General Assurance Philippines, Inc. (“MAAGAP”), and Education Services. The Group is also involved in hire purchase, leasing, SME debt factoring, and other credit facilities, as well as providing advisory and consultancy services in various industries such as hotel management, food and beverage, short-term property accommodation, logistics and dispatch, and property management, design, and renovation services.

Despite its diverse portfolio, MAAG is actively seeking new core businesses to further diversify its income streams. As an investment holding company, it continues its journey of growth and expansion in search of new opportunities to enhance its presence and contribute to the industry.
