During my 6-month internship at Synthomer Sdn. Bhd., I worked in the Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR) department, which specializes in producing latex from various chemicals such as Butadiene, acrylonitrile, t-dodecyl mercaptan, Methacrylic acid, and others. I was assigned to the maintenance department where I was responsible for maintaining equipment in the plant. Additionally, I worked on several projects including a hydraulic compress project (which is ongoing), developing a mechanical seal system for the reactor, and conducting inspections of foam probes.

At Synthomer, employees work two shifts - day and night - followed by two days of work and two days off. I have learned a lot about chemical processes while working there, as my senior colleagues have been very helpful in teaching me the ropes.
