Inside Scoop was born out of the shared passion of Edmund Tan and Lim Shiew Li to create genuinely fresh and locally-made ice cream for Malaysians. Their journey began with a simple yet ambitious goal: to fill a gap in the premium ice cream market, which was largely dominated by international chains. Despite not having formal culinary training, Edmund and Shiew Li’s love for ice cream led them down an unconventional path. Shiew Li even went to Italy’s renowned Gelato University to learn the science of crafting the perfect scoop.
Since its establishment in 2013, Inside Scoop has been fearless in pushing the boundaries of flavor, offering unique, handcrafted ice cream that tantalizes the taste buds of Malaysians. With premium ingredients sourced from around the world and inspired by their Malaysian roots, culinary explorations, and current trends, Inside Scoop has quickly become a beloved ice cream destination.
What started as a small venture with Edmund and Shiew Li personally testing and churning out flavors in their kitchen led to the opening of their first outlet in Bangsar in late 2013. This store featured 16 distinct flavors, including crowd favorites like Durian and Valrhona Chocolate. The overwhelming response to their ice cream quickly paved the way for a second outlet in Damansara Jaya in July 2014, marking the beginning of Inside Scoop's sweet journey of success.
