Job Summary
The IT Technician is responsible for providing technical support and maintaining the school's IT infrastructure to ensure the smooth operation of teaching, learning, and administrative activities. This includes troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing network systems, supporting educational technology, and assisting staff and students with IT-related needs.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support and Troubleshooting
- Provide first-line technical support to staff, students, and school departments.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and printer issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, tablets, chromebooks, and other IT equipment.
- Respond promptly to helpdesk requests and technical incidents.
Network and Systems Maintenance
- Monitor and maintain the school's network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks.
- Assist in managing servers, backups, user accounts, and access permissions.
- Ensure the security and reliability of IT systems and data.
- Support cybersecurity measures, including antivirus protection and software updates.
Educational Technology Support
- Support classroom technology such as projectors, smart boards, audio-visual equipment, and learning management systems.
- Assist teachers in the effective use of educational software and digital learning tools.
- Provide technical support during school events, assemblies, examinations, and presentations.
Hardware and Software Management
- Install, update, and maintain operating systems and software applications.
- Manage inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.
- Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and warranty claims with vendors when necessary.
- Perform routine maintenance and preventive checks on IT equipment.
Documentation and Administration
- Maintain accurate records of IT assets, repairs, maintenance activities, and user requests.
- Prepare technical documentation, user guides, and reports as required.
- Assist in developing and implementing IT policies and procedures.
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with school IT policies, data protection regulations, and cybersecurity standards.
- Promote safe and responsible use of technology within the school community.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in IT support or technical services.
- Experience in an educational environment is an advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365, Google for Education, networking, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, educational technology platforms, and learning management systems is desirable.
- Understanding of network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and system administration.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
