CONTEXT
As a Product Owner within our Lending team, you will help build and scale Boost Bank's lending portfolio in a digital-first environment. Your primary focus will be SME Lending covering products such as SME Term Financing, Revolving Credit, and other business lending solutions with scope to contribute across our wider retail lending portfolio, as business priorities evolve.
SME lending in Malaysia remains underserved and largely manual, and we are looking for someone with the curiosity and drive to rethink how it should work. You will own defined product areas end to end, working with engineering, design, credit, and risk teams to bring products to market. Deep lending experience is not a prerequisite, strong product instincts, comfort with data, and a willingness to learn the domain matter more.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Delivery & Execution
- Own defined product areas within the lending roadmap end to end, from problem definition through to launch and post-release optimisation
- Write and manage product backlogs, user stories, and acceptance criteria, ensuring they meet customer and business needs
- Work day to day with engineering, design, and operations teams to deliver features on time and to quality
- Lead UAT planning, test scenario preparation, and go-live readiness for product releases
Product Discovery & Improvement:
- Bring fresh thinking to the borrowing journey, actively identify friction points, manual workarounds, and opportunities to simplify
- Conduct customer, partner, and internal user research, and translate findings into product opportunities
- Benchmark competitor and regional lending propositions and surface ideas worth testing
- Drive Straight-Through Processing (STP) by identifying steps that can be automated, removed, or redesigned
Data & Performance
- Track and report on product performance across conversion, approval rates, time-to-cash, and drop-offs
- Prepare performance updates and insights for management reporting
- Use data to support prioritisation decisions and post-launch reviews
Stakeholder Management:
- Act as a point of contact for your product areas across the Bank
- Coordinate with Credit, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Marketing, and Tech teams on day-to-day product matters
- Support preparation of governance, regulatory, and partner-facing documentation
- Ensure compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia guidelines and embed risk controls within product design
WORK EXPERIENCES
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 2–4 years of experience in product management, business analysis, digital delivery, banking, or fintech
- Exposure to lending, credit, or SME banking is an advantage but not essential; the domain can be learned on the job
- Comfortable with data; able to work with numbers, spot patterns, and build a case with evidence
- Curious and questioning by nature, with the confidence to challenge existing processes constructively
- Strong written and verbal communication, and able to work effectively across cross-functional teams
- Self-starting and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
