Role Description The Health Safety Environment Officer is a 1 year contract, on-site role based in Penang Island. This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures across site operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company standards. Day-to-day tasks include conducting risk assessments, safety inspections, and site audits; identifying hazards; and recommending corrective and preventive actions. The officer will develop and deliver HSE training and awareness programs, maintain documentation and incident reports, and support investigations of accidents and near-misses. The role also involves collaborating with project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture, continuous improvement, and environmentally responsible practices in all construction activities.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Workplace Safety skills, with practical experience in implementing site safety procedures.
  • Candidates should possess Environment Health and Safety (EHS) and Occupational Health skills, including knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices.
  • Candidates should possess valid Safety & Health Officer competency registered with DOSH (Green Book)
  • Candidates should possess skills in risk assessment, incident reporting, and safety auditing within engineering or construction environments.
  • Candidates should possess good communication and training skills to engage diverse site personnel and promote safety culture.
  • Candidates should possess a diploma or degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; experience in infrastructure or bridge projects is an advantage.
  • Candidates should possess the ability to work on-site, travel to project locations as needed, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
