Job Description

Responsibilities

The Role

We are looking for a Junior Account Executive to join Mahou Consulting and get hands-on experience across public relations, communications, media relations, and client work.

This is not a role where you will spend your time watching from the sidelines. You will work directly on client accounts, contribute to campaigns, research stories and industries, develop media pitches, write communications materials, and engage with journalists and other stakeholders.

You will have the opportunity to work across different industries and types of communications work, giving you a practical understanding of what it takes to build visibility, credibility, and meaningful relationships through communications.

About Mahou Consulting

Mahou Consulting is a Singapore-based public relations and communications consultancy working with startups, technology companies, corporates, and organisations across Singapore and Southeast Asia.

We believe good communications should do more than generate attention. It should help businesses explain what they do, why it matters, and why people should care.

Our work spans media relations, corporate communications, thought leadership, executive visibility, brand communications, and strategic PR. We work closely with our clients to understand their businesses, identify the stories worth telling, and turn those stories into meaningful opportunities.

We are one of Singapore's fastest growing agencies, which means you will have the opportunity to work closely with the leadership and get exposure to the full communications process.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of PR and communications campaigns across multiple client accounts.
  • Researching companies, industries, trends, journalists, publications, and relevant news developments.
  • Identifying potential stories, media angles, thought leadership opportunities, and newsjacking opportunities.
  • Assisting with sales processes through lead qualification and deck support.
  • Developing media lists and conducting media outreach.
  • Building and developing relationships with journalists and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Drafting press releases, media pitches, briefing documents, talking points, LinkedIn content, and other communications materials.
  • Supporting interview preparation and coordinating with clients and media.
  • Monitoring relevant news, conversations, and coverage for clients.
  • Tracking media coverage and helping evaluate the impact of communications activity.
  • Participating in client calls and internal discussions, and contributing ideas where relevant.
  • Taking ownership of assigned tasks and ensuring they are completed to a high standard and on time.

What We Expect From You

We are looking for someone who is curious, proactive, and willing to learn by doing. You should have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • An interest in public relations, communications, media, business, technology, or current affairs.
  • The ability to research quickly and make sense of unfamiliar topics.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • The ability to write clearly and adapt your writing to different audiences and formats.
  • A willingness to speak to people, including journalists and clients.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Initiative. If you see something that could be done better, we want you to speak up.
  • A willingness to receive feedback, learn quickly, and improve.

Most importantly, we care about how you carry yourself and how you build interpersonal relationships with your clients and with journalists. Previous PR or agency experience is helpful, but it is not essential. We are more interested in how you think, write, learn, and approach your work.

What You Can Expect From Us

At Mahou Consulting, you will learn by being involved in real work.

You can expect:

  • Direct exposure to clients and journalists.
  • Hands-on experience across PR, media relations, corporate communications, and thought leadership.
  • The opportunity to work across different industries, businesses, and communications challenges.
  • The chance to develop your writing, research, media relations, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Consistent feedback and guidance designed to help you improve, rather than simply complete tasks.
  • An environment where your ideas are taken seriously, regardless of your level of experience.
  • Increasing responsibility as you demonstrate that you are ready for it.

If you want an internship where you can see how communications actually works from the inside, this is the place to start.
