Job Description

Responsibilities

About the role

Royal Animal Rescue Singapore is Singapore’s first private 24/7 pet emergency ambulance and rescue service. EMT Drivers are the operational backbone of every dispatch. You drive the ambulance, support pre-hospital care on scene, and get critically ill or injured animals to a veterinary clinic safely and quickly.

This is not a standard driver role. You will respond to trauma, heatstroke, seizures, high-rise falls, and cardiac arrest. You work in a uniformed team under time pressure, often at night, and you are expected to stay calm when the patient and the owner are not.

What you will do

  • Drive ambulances and rapid-response vehicles to emergency scenes across Singapore, using approved routes and safe emergency driving.
  • Arrive scene-ready: park for access and egress, set up the working area, and assist the veterinary paramedic or vet with patient handling.
  • Help with pre-hospital care within your scope: oxygen, positioning, restraint, temperature management, basic monitoring, loading and securing the patient, and scene safety.
  • Assist on high-rise and confined-space rescues by managing ground support, equipment, and vehicle positioning.
  • Complete patient care records, mileage logs, equipment checks, and incident notes accurately before end of shift.
  • Maintain the vehicle and kit: daily inspections, restock, cleaning and disinfection after every case, and reporting defects immediately.
  • Communicate clearly with dispatch, the clinical lead, veterinary clinics, and owners. You are often the first uniformed person the owner meets.
  • Stand by at events when rostered and carry out non-emergency transfers when required.

Requirements

  • Valid Singapore Class 3 or 3A driving licence, with a clean or near-clean record. Class 4 is an advantage for the Sprinter fleet.
  • Able to drive a long-wheelbase van confidently in HDB carparks, multi-storey carparks, and narrow access roads.
  • Physically fit enough to lift and carry animals and equipment, work in heat and rain, and manage night shifts.
  • Calm under pressure, able to take instruction from the clinical lead, and comfortable with blood, distress, and distressed owners.
  • Basic first aid or pet first aid is preferred. Prior EMT, SCDF, medic, ambulance, or animal-handling experience is a strong advantage but not mandatory if you can learn fast.
  • Smartphone literacy for dispatch apps, navigation, and photo or case logging.
  • Able to work a rotating roster including nights, weekends, and public holidays. Call-back during major incidents may be required.

What we look for beyond the licence

We hire people who treat the ambulance as a clinical workspace, not just a vehicle. Punctuality, honesty on logs, and respect for protocol matter more than bravado. You will be trained on RAR driving standards, scene safety, patient loading, infection control, and documentation. Progression toward veterinary paramedic support roles is available for drivers who study and perform.

What we provide

  • Structured onboarding and supervised ride-alongs before you run solo.
  • Uniform and issued PPE.
  • Company vehicle familiarization on the Sprinter ambulance fleet and support vehicles.
  • Shift roster with defined rest periods.
  • Exposure to real emergency and critical care cases alongside veterinary paramedics and, on selected dispatches, emergency vets.

Pay: $3,000.00 - $3,500.00 per month

Benefits:

  • Professional development
  • Promotion to permanent employee
