Senior Finance Manager — Maternity Leave Cover

As a finance shared services provider supporting clients across Malaysia and Australia, we are looking for a Senior Finance Manager to cover maternity leave for the current role holder. This role leads a team delivering accounting and financial management services to our client portfolio, owns service quality and SLA performance, and is accountable for the systems, checks and client experience standards that keep the portfolio running smoothly throughout the handover period and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the delivery of accounting and financial management services across our portfolio of client accounts in Malaysia and Australia.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of accountants, ensuring consistent quality of output and depth of client knowledge.
• Own SLA performance across the portfolio, including setting expectations, monitoring turnaround times, and resolving service gaps before they reach clients.
• Design and maintain review and checking systems (reconciliations, sign-off processes, quality controls) that catch errors prior to client delivery.
• Review and approve general ledger reconciliations, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and management reports prepared by the team.
• Oversee financial forecasting, cash-flow management and other operational metrics reporting for client accounts.
• Act as the primary escalation point for client relationships, including building trust, managing expectations, and driving continuous improvement in client experience.
• Lead client onboarding for new accounts and ensure a smooth handover of existing accounts during the cover period.
• Australia: Oversee the preparation and review of IAS and BAS submissions; ensure accuracy of data for income tax, payroll tax and statutory compliance.
• Malaysia: Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance across client accounts, liaising with auditors, tax agents and company secretaries as required.
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements across accounting workflows and reporting mechanisms.
• Report portfolio and team performance to the CEO and COO on a regular basis.
• Support training and upskilling of the wider finance team to maintain service consistency.
• Undertake additional duties as required to ensure continuity of service during the leave cover period.

About You

• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, ideally including senior managerial roles.
• Prior experience within a finance shared services or multi-client environment strongly preferred.
• Proven track record of building or strengthening a client-focused culture: meeting SLAs consistently, communicating proactively, and turning service delivery into a relationship advantage.
• Demonstrated experience establishing efficient, scalable systems for review, checking, and quality control.
• Experience training, mentoring and leading a team of accountants or finance professionals.
• Exposure to both Malaysian and Australian compliance frameworks is an advantage (BAS/IAS familiarity a plus).
• CPA or CA qualification preferred.
• Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
• Highly organised, detail-oriented, and adept at managing competing priorities across a diverse client portfolio.
