Job Purpose
The Fleet Reliability Manager is responsible for maximizing fleet availability, reliability, and maintenance effectiveness across the company's heavy vehicle fleet.
The role leads workshop operations, preventive maintenance programs, technical troubleshooting, breakdown reduction initiatives, spare parts management, and maintenance performance improvement to ensure the fleet operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Working closely with the Fleet Operations, Operations Planning, and Management teams, the Fleet Reliability Manager plays a critical role in supporting business growth by improving fleet uptime, extending asset life, reducing maintenance costs, and ensuring operational readiness.
This is a high-impact leadership role where maintenance quality, fleet reliability, and technical decision-making directly influence operational performance, customer service levels, and business results.
Education Preferred

Essential Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in heavy commercial vehicle maintenance, fleet maintenance, workshop operations, or related technical roles.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory, managerial, or leadership position within a workshop or fleet maintenance environment.
- Proven experience in one or more of the following industries:
- Bulk cement transportation
- Bulk tanker operations
- Quarry operations
- Heavy haulage
- Construction logistics
- Large commercial transport fleets
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- Fleet reliability management
- Preventive maintenance planning
- Workshop operations management
- Breakdown diagnosis and troubleshooting
- Root cause analysis
- Spare parts management
- Maintenance cost control
- Heavy vehicle technical systems
Essential Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance principles.
- Ability to analyse vehicle failures and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension systems, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience developing maintenance schedules and reliability improvement programs.
- Strong understanding of workshop productivity, maintenance KPIs, and fleet performance measurement.
- Ability to balance operational requirements with maintenance priorities to maximise fleet availability.
Technical & Systems Skills
- Good computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to prepare maintenance reports, performance analyses, and operational summaries.
- Experience using fleet maintenance systems, workshop management systems, fleet management software, or similar platforms is an advantage.
- Ability to use maintenance data to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
Leadership Competencies
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Ability to lead workshop supervisors, foremen, technicians, and support personnel.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to build accountability, discipline, and technical standards within the workshop.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills when working with Operations, Fleet Management, Procurement, and external vendors.

- Professional certifications related to maintenance, reliability, engineering, or fleet management.
- Exposure to ISO, safety management systems, or structured continuous improvement methodologies.
