Job Description

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Chef or Sous Chef, with a minimum of 1-2 years in a similar role.

  • Possession of a Diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field is preferred.

  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing a wide range of Western and Asian dishes, showcasing versatility in culinary techniques.

  • Strong understanding of kitchen management principles, including inventory control, cost management, and staff supervision.

  • Proficiency in all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and presentation, adhering to high standards of quality and hygiene.

  • Ability to manage kitchen operations efficiently, ensuring timely service and consistent product quality.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Fluency in both Bahasa Malaysia and English is required for effective communication with staff and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation, ensuring high standards of quality and consistency for both Western and Asian dishes.

  • Develop and execute creative and appealing menu items, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer feedback, while managing food costs and minimizing waste.

  • Manage inventory, including ordering supplies, receiving deliveries, and maintaining stock levels, to ensure efficient kitchen operations and prevent shortages.

  • Lead and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, and ensuring adherence to all food safety and sanitation regulations.

  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, implementing strict hygiene protocols and ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and in good working order.

  • Collaborate with café management to plan specials, events, and catering orders, ensuring seamless execution and customer satisfaction.

  • Monitor food quality and taste throughout the cooking process, making necessary adjustments to ensure dishes meet the café's high standards.
