Job Description

Requirements

The position of Pharmacist in Sabah, Malaysia requires candidates to possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (BPharm) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university, and must be registered with the Pharmacy Board Malaysia. Candidates are required to have completed their Provisionally Registered Pharmacist (PRP) training and fulfilled the requirements to become a Fully Registered Pharmacist (FRP), along with holding a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC).

Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply for PRP positions, while fully registered pharmacists are preferred to have at least 1–2 years of working experience in retail, hospital, or community pharmacy settings. Applicants should demonstrate strong knowledge of medications, dosages, and drug interactions, as well as possess good communication and patient counselling skills. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, along with sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities, is essential.

In addition, candidates should be familiar with Malaysian pharmacy laws and regulations, including the Poisons Act and Dangerous Drugs Act. Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English is required, while the ability to speak Mandarin or local dialects is an added advantage, particularly in Sabah. The ideal candidate should exhibit professionalism, ethical conduct, and a strong customer-oriented mindset, and be willing to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays. Candidates should also be open to being based in Sabah, including rural areas if required, and be willing to relocate or travel between branches when necessary.

Responsibilities

Professional medication dispensing, consultation and counseling

Manage and record poison and stock inventory

Maintain good teamwork and communication with branch manager, nutritionist and pharmacy assistant to ensure smooth and effective daily retail operation

Assist in basic management and team building

Conduct training and performance assessment of the team

Train, supervise and monitor sales performance and service

Keep in touch with all HQ departments as well as other branches
