Job Description

Requirements

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in daily tasks, including animal restraint, sample collection, and basic laboratory procedures.

  • Provide compassionate care and monitoring for hospitalized and post-operative patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary environment within the clinic, including kennels, examination rooms, and surgical areas, adhering to strict hygiene protocols.

  • Effectively communicate with pet owners in a clear, empathetic, and professional manner, providing updates on their pet's condition and educating them on basic care instructions.

  • Handle animals of various temperaments and sizes with care, patience, and proper technique to ensure the safety of both the animal and staff.

  • Prepare examination and surgical rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available.

  • Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies within the veterinary field.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with veterinarians, technicians, and other support staff to provide optimal patient care.

  • Basic understanding of animal behavior and physiology is a plus, but not required for entry-level candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures by preparing equipment, restraining animals, and providing support as directed.

  • Provide basic animal care, including feeding, watering, grooming, exercising, and monitoring animals for any changes in behavior or health status.

  • Maintain a clean and sanitary environment for all animals and equipment, including cleaning kennels, cages, examination rooms, and surgical suites.

  • Perform basic laboratory tasks such as collecting and preparing samples (blood, urine, feces) for analysis, and processing diagnostic tests under supervision.

  • Educate pet owners on basic animal care, including nutrition, hygiene, and post-operative instructions, ensuring clear and compassionate communication.

  • Manage and maintain accurate patient records, including updating medical histories, treatment plans, and billing information.

  • Dispense medications and pharmaceuticals as prescribed by veterinarians, ensuring correct dosage and administration instructions are provided to owners.

  • Respond to client inquiries via phone or in person, scheduling appointments, and providing general information about hospital services.
