Company: JUO
Function: Content Operations / Production
Working Hours: Alignment with Japan Standard Time (JST) business hours required
About the Role
JUO is looking for a highly organised, detail-oriented and Japanese-speaking Content & Asset Operations Producer to support the marketing operations of a leading global streaming platform.
This is a fast-paced, communication-intensive role that involves working closely with Japanese content partners, studios, licensors, production committees, clients and international creative and operations teams.
You'll play a central role in managing the end-to-end sourcing, coordination, quality control and approval of marketing assets across Japanese entertainment titles (including anime and live-action content). You’ll be responsible for managing high volumes of requests and stakeholder communications, ensuring assets meet requirements, coordinating approvals and keeping multiple workflows on track.
We're looking for someone who communicates confidently in Japanese and English, understands the nuances of Japanese business etiquette, anticipates problems before they escalate and takes pride in getting the details right.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as a key operational point of contact for Japanese content partners, studios, licensors, clients and internal production teams.
- Manage high volumes of daily communications, requests, follow-ups and approvals across email, messaging platforms and project management tools.
- Conduct professional correspondence, clarifications and formal approval requests in business-level Japanese, demonstrating appropriate etiquette and sensitivity when engaging Japanese partners.
- Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to align on asset requirements, delivery schedules, promotional rights, embargoes and approval processes.
- Proactively follow up on outstanding requests, resolve discrepancies and escalate risks or delays to ensure smooth delivery.
Content & Asset Sourcing
- Coordinate the sourcing and delivery of promotional assets, including key art, trailers, video clips, publicity stills and other marketing materials.
- Work directly with Japanese content partners and relevant asset repositories to obtain required materials for licensed, pre-buy and upcoming entertainment titles.
- Track asset availability, production schedules, approval statuses and delivery deadlines across multiple concurrent titles and campaigns.
- Ensure embargo information, usage restrictions, content guidelines and approval requirements are accurately recorded and communicated.
- Follow up on missing assets, incomplete submissions, incorrect formats and updated requirements to ensure materials are delivered in accordance with agreed specifications.
Asset Management, Quality Control & Approvals
- Perform initial quality control on incoming marketing assets, verifying completeness, accuracy and compliance with supplied technical, brand and partner requirements.
- Organise, catalogue, upload and maintain assets within digital asset management (DAM) platforms, ensuring accurate metadata, file naming, version control and folder organisation.
- Coordinate the review and approval of adapted or localised marketing assets, including key art, trailer cutdowns and subtitled videos.
- Facilitate approval workflows between internal stakeholders, creative and production teams, and Japanese content partners, ensuring feedback and revisions are accurately communicated and tracked.
- Maintain clear records of approvals, outstanding changes and final sign-offs before assets are released for their intended marketing use.
- Liaise with technical and creative specialists when assets require further verification, correction or production support.
Workflow & Project Management
- Manage a high-volume pipeline of concurrent title launches, promotional campaigns, asset requests and approval workflows.
- Maintain accurate trackers, project documentation, asset inventories and regular status reports.
- Monitor deadlines, prioritise competing requests and provide timely updates to stakeholders across different teams and markets.
- Identify potential bottlenecks, missing information and operational risks, taking initiative to resolve or escalate them.
- Coordinate closely with content, creative, production and operations teams to ensure assets are ready for downstream marketing and localisation.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, documentation, communication and operational accuracy.
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Advanced business-level Japanese proficiency (spoken and written), equivalent to JLPT N1, with the ability to confidently handle professional correspondence, formal approval requests and discussions with Japanese studios and content partners. Native Japanese proficiency is welcome but not mandatory.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with international and cross-functional teams.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in content operations, studio relations, production or post-production coordination, agency management, or marketing operations within media, entertainment, streaming or related industries.
- Strong familiarity with Japanese business culture and professional communication etiquette, including appropriate use of keigo when engaging external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of stakeholder communications, requests, follow-ups and approvals while handling multiple concurrent priorities.
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when managing technical assets, metadata, documentation, embargo information, deadlines and approvals.
- Familiarity with digital asset management systems, spreadsheets and collaborative project management tools, including Airtable, Google Workspace or comparable platforms.
- Working knowledge of common digital image and video formats and an understanding of basic marketing asset production and localisation workflows.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently and navigate competing requirements.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with stakeholders during Japan Standard Time (JST) business hours.
Good to Have
- Experience working directly with Japanese entertainment studios, distributors, licensors, production committees or content partners.
- Familiarity with anime, Japanese live-action content, entertainment marketing or streaming platform operations.
- Experience managing approvals for licensed intellectual property, promotional materials and localised marketing assets.
- Familiarity with technical production deliverables such as layered creative files, ProRes video, subtitle files and other localisation assets.
- Experience coordinating international or cross-market marketing projects.
- Applicants based in Japan are also welcome to apply.

You'll be successful in this role if you can:
- Keep high-volume, multi-stakeholder communications organised, responsive and accurate.
- Build trusted professional relationships with Japanese content partners, clients and internal teams.
- Maintain clear visibility of asset availability, delivery schedules, approvals, embargoes and outstanding requests.
- Ensure that sourced and delivered assets are complete, correctly documented and aligned with agreed specifications.
- Coordinate timely approvals and resolve discrepancies or delivery risks before they become larger problems.
- Manage multiple title and campaign workflows without compromising accuracy or communication quality.
- Help establish reliable, efficient and scalable processes that support complex content marketing operations.
