Role Overview

The Data Engineer with DevOps specialisation will establish and operate the automated deployment processes required for the Snowflake platform. The role will ensure that Snowflake changes are version-controlled, tested and promoted safely across Dev, UAT and Production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake database objects, data pipelines and configuration changes.
• Implement version control, automated testing, approval gates and deployment controls across Dev, UAT and Production.
• Support provisioning and operation of private CI/CD runners within the required network environment.
• Develop deployment templates and standards for Snowflake objects, including databases, schemas, roles, policies, views, Dynamic Tables, Streams and Tasks.
• Automate environment configuration and promote approved changes between environments.
• Implement deployment logging, monitoring, rollback and recovery procedures.
• Work with infrastructure, security and network teams to support PrivateLink, network policies, secrets and secure access requirements.
• Support operational monitoring for Snowflake jobs, pipelines and platform health.
• Produce CI/CD runbooks and provide knowledge transfer to the client’s engineering teams.

Required Skills and Experience

• At least 4 years of data engineering, DevOps or platform engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD, Git and automated deployment pipelines.
• Experience deploying and managing Snowflake objects through automated pipelines.
• Strong SQL and scripting skills, preferably Python and shell scripting.
• Experience with test automation, release management, deployment controls and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of Snowflake RBAC, role grants, environment configuration and secure secrets management.
• Experience working with cloud networking and secure environments.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with enterprise CI/CD platforms.
• Experience with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code or database change-management tools.
• Azure, Snowflake or DevOps certifications.
