Responsibilities
Location: Malaysia | Full-Time
We’re looking for a Social Media Executive who can take a social media account from idea → plan → create → publish → engage → analyse → improve.
At Rethink, you won’t just be scheduling posts. You’ll work across Rethink’s own social media channels and client accounts, helping to turn business objectives, campaigns and everyday moments into content that people actually want to watch, read and engage with.
Ideas, Content Strategy & Calendar Planning
• Develop and manage monthly social media content calendars for Rethink and assigned client accounts.
• Research trends, conversations, competitors and audience behaviour to identify relevant content opportunities.
• Generate campaign ideas, content angles, recurring series and platform-specific concepts.
• Translate client briefs and business objectives into practical social media plans.
• Plan content according to campaign priorities, key dates, launches and on-ground activities.
Content Creation & Copywriting
• Develop social media content from concept through execution, including static posts, carousels, short-form videos, Reels, Stories and other digital formats.
• Write captions, headlines, hooks, scripts and social copy suited to different platforms and audiences.
• Work with designers and video editors to turn ideas into strong visual content.
• Handle straightforward social media designs and quick-turnaround content where required.
• Ensure content is accurate, relevant, on-brand and appropriate for each client.
Video, Photography & On-Ground Content
• Attend client events, launches, activations, shoots and other on-ground activities when required.
• Capture usable photos, short-form videos, interviews and behind-the-scenes content using a mobile phone.
• Produce quick edits for timely social media publishing.
• Brief and coordinate with designers, photographers, videographers and editors for more complex content requirements.
• Organise and maintain content libraries for future use.
Community Management & Operations
• Manage day-to-day publishing across assigned social media accounts.
• Monitor and respond appropriately to comments, messages and audience interactions.
• Identify recurring questions, feedback and conversations that could become future content opportunities.
• Maintain posting schedules, content status, approval records and account assets.
• Coordinate closely with internal teams and clients to ensure content is reviewed, approved and published on time.
Analytics, Reporting & Project Governance
• Track content and campaign performance across relevant platforms.
• Monitor meaningful metrics including reach, engagement, saves, shares, watch time, clicks, conversions and audience growth.
• Prepare monthly or campaign performance reports with clear observations and recommendations — not just numbers.
• Use performance insights to improve future content planning and execution.
• Maintain timelines, approval processes, deliverables and project documentation across assigned accounts.
• Flag delays, risks or outstanding client inputs early and follow through until closure.
Platforms You’ll Work With
Meta / Facebook / Instagram • LinkedIn • TikTok • YouTube • Google Ads / Performance Max and other relevant digital platforms.
You should have 1–3 years of relevant experience in social media, digital marketing, content creation or a related role.
More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:
• Understands social media beyond simply “posting content” — you know how ideas, format, timing, audience behaviour and performance work together.
• Can take ownership of an account and keep things moving without having to be constantly chased.
• Is comfortable handling both internal brand and client-facing accounts.
• Has strong written English and can adapt tone of voice for different brands and audiences.
• Has a good eye for visual communication, typography, composition and content presentation.
• Can capture decent photo and video content using a mobile phone when attending events or activations.
• Understands how to interpret social media analytics and turn numbers into actionable recommendations.
• Is organised with timelines, files, approvals and multiple projects running concurrently.
• Communicates clearly, asks questions when a brief is unclear and keeps relevant people updated.
• Takes feedback professionally and can adapt quickly when priorities change.
• Is curious about trends, digital culture, brands and how people consume content online.
You should be comfortable with:
Canva • Adobe Photoshop • Adobe Illustrator • Meta Business Suite • LinkedIn • TikTok • YouTube
Experience with CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, InShot, Google Ads / Performance Max, social media analytics tools and AI-assisted content tools will be an advantage.
We want to see what you have actually worked on.
Please share a portfolio or examples of your social media content, campaigns, designs, videos or accounts you have managed. Where possible, tell us briefly what your role was and what you personally contributed.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys both sides of social media: the creativity of making something good and the discipline of making sure it actually works.
If that sounds like you, we’d like to hear from you.
