  • At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in fire protection or mechanical and electrical (M&E) projects.

  • Fresh graduates may be considered for a junior position.

  • Sound knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, pumps, valves, piping, and related equipment.

  • Familiarity with applicable NFPA, British Standards (BS), Malaysian Standards (MS), and local fire authority requirements.

  • Good coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness to work at project sites and manage multiple projects.

Added Advantages

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, or similar design and drafting software.

  • Hands-on experience in fire pump and sprinkler system testing and commissioning.

  • Relevant registration with a local authority or professional body.

Job Summary

Our Client is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee the planning, coordination, installation, testing, and commissioning of fire protection systems, with a focus on fire sprinkler systems. The successful candidate will coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure projects are completed within approved timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Job Description

The Project Engineer will manage the technical and site execution aspects of fire protection projects, from reviewing drawings and coordinating material submissions to supervising installation and obtaining final approvals.

This role requires knowledge of sprinkler systems, fire pumps, valves, piping, and associated mechanical equipment. The candidate should be comfortable working at project sites, resolving technical issues, and coordinating multiple projects while ensuring compliance with applicable standards, local authority requirements, and workplace safety procedures.

Job Responsibilities

Project Planning and Coordination

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate project activities to meet approved timelines.

  • Prepare, review, and coordinate technical drawings, hydraulic calculations, and material submissions for consultant and authority approval.

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and site teams to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and coordinate corrective actions.

Site Supervision and Installation

  • Supervise the installation of fire sprinkler systems, piping, fire pumps, valves, and related equipment.

  • Ensure installation works follow approved drawings, specifications, applicable standards, and local authority requirements.

  • Conduct site inspections, resolve technical issues, and coordinate rectification works.

  • Monitor material deliveries, manpower deployment, and site resources.

Testing and Commissioning

  • Plan and coordinate system testing and commissioning, including hydrostatic pressure tests, flow tests, and fire pump performance tests.

  • Verify system performance and coordinate the rectification of defects before handover.

  • Liaise with the relevant fire authorities for inspections and final approvals.

Documentation and Cost Monitoring

  • Prepare progress reports, method statements, risk assessments, and inspection records.

  • Maintain organized records of approved drawings, material submissions, test certificates, and project correspondence.

  • Monitor project costs, material usage, and manpower requirements against the approved budget.

  • Coordinate as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and handover documentation.

Safety, Quality, and Compliance

  • Ensure project works comply with applicable fire safety regulations, building codes, and company standards.

  • Implement site safety and quality assurance procedures.

  • Identify and report unsafe practices, installation defects, and non-compliant work.
