Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to oversee plant machinery uptime, mechanical reliability, facilities management, and engineering modifications. The ideal candidate will combine strong mechanical power transmission expertise with AutoCAD drafting for parts localization, facility/hostel upkeep, JKKP safety compliance, spare parts inventory control, and practical electrical troubleshooting capabilities to support continuous production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical Design, AutoCAD Drafting & Parts Localization
- Design and draft 2D/3D mechanical engineering drawings using AutoCAD for machine modifications, jig/fixture designs, and process improvement projects.
- Reverse-engineer imported machinery parts and power transmission components to produce precise fabrication drawings for local suppliers, reducing spare part costs and procurement lead times.
- Draft plant layout drawings in AutoCAD showing emergency exit routes, fire extinguisher locations, and safety signage in compliance with JKKP regulations.
2. Mechanical Maintenance & Asset Reliability
- Oversee mechanical breakdown repairs, machinery overhauls, and preventive maintenance (PM) across all production lines.
- Diagnose and service mechanical drive assemblies, gearboxes, spur gears, chain couplings, timing belts/pulleys, bearings, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on chronic machine failures and implement long-term corrective actions.
3. Facility Management & Utilities Upkeep
- Maintain plant utility networks, including process piping systems for extrusion lines, cooling systems, and air compressors.
- Manage general plant facility upkeep, including simple plumbing, civil repairs, and worker hostel accommodation maintenance.
4. Safety (JKKP/DOSH), ISO Compliance & Inventory Management
- Act as an active member of the Company Safety Committee, ensuring plant adherence to JKKP/DOSH rules and regulations (e.g., exit signage, fire extinguisher hooks, safety audits).
- Manage the maintenance spare parts store, establishing minimum and maximum (Min-Max) inventory levels for critical machinery spares to prevent production downtime while controlling holding costs.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System standards, maintaining complete machine breakdown logs, preventive maintenance records, and work instructions.
5. Financial Justification, CapEx & Vendor Management
- Prepare technical and cost proposals for Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects and machine modernization initiatives for top management approval.
- Review, track, and justify monthly maintenance operational expenditures against allocations set by the Finance Department.
- Manage external fabrication workshops, equipment suppliers, and service contractors to ensure quality machining and competitive pricing.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting
- Represent the maintenance department in weekly production meetings to report on equipment uptime, breakdown root causes, project status, and scheduled maintenance interventions.
- Coordinate with production supervisors to align machine downtime windows with production schedules.
- Supervise, assign tasks to, and mentor shift maintenance technicians and engineering trainees.
7. Electrical & Control System Troubleshooting (Practical Level)
- Perform practical electrical troubleshooting on control panels, motor starters, contactors, and relays during machine stoppages.
- Parameterize and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs/Inverters).
- Conduct basic PLC diagnostic checks (tracing inputs/outputs and ladder logic) to assist in quick fault recovery.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Mechanical & Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Core Skills & Competencies:
- Mechanical & CAD (Essential): Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D drafting), power transmission systems, reverse engineering of machine parts, fits & tolerances, and hydraulics/pneumatics.
- Facilities & Safety (Essential): Experience in industrial piping/utilities, building/hostel upkeep, safety committee participation, and JKKP/DOSH compliance.
- Administrative & Financial: Capability to manage spare parts inventory (Min-Max), prepare CapEx proposals, justify monthly maintenance expenses, and manage fabrication vendors.
- Electrical & Automation (Advantageous): Practical familiarity with motor control panels, VFD parameters, and basic PLC ladder logic navigation
