About the Role

We are looking for a Legal & Compliance Counsel to join our team at our Gelang Patah Logistics Hub in Johor.

This role will serve as the embedded legal authority for local supply chain operations, driving operational integrity, mitigating commercial risk, and supporting regional business growth.

You will combine strong commercial legal expertise with regulatory compliance, data privacy leadership, and cross-functional governance to ensure our operations remain legally sound, efficient, and well controlled.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure local and international customs, trade, and regulatory requirements are embedded into daily logistics operations.
• Localize global headquarters governance policies for the Malaysian operation.
• Establish and strengthen preventive internal controls to identify and mitigate operational and compliance risks.
• Advise operational teams on legal and regulatory requirements affecting supply chain activities.

Commercial Transactions

• Draft, review, negotiate, and execute high-value supply chain, procurement, and commercial contracts.
• Balance legal and commercial risks while supporting fast and efficient business execution.
• Provide practical legal advice to business and operational stakeholders.

Data Privacy & Corporate Governance

• Lead local data privacy compliance under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
• Work closely with Data Protection leadership on privacy-related matters and compliance initiatives.
• Oversee statutory corporate secretarial duties and corporate governance requirements for local entities.

Legal Operations & Enablement

• Modernize legal workflows through technology-driven contract management tools and processes.
• Develop and deliver practical legal and compliance training programs for operational leaders.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to promote a strong culture of compliance and risk awareness.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or equivalent.
• Admitted to practice law in Malaysia.
• Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in private practice or an in-house legal environment.
• Direct experience in retail, supply chain, logistics, procurement, or commercial operations is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
• Experience with Malaysia's PDPA and corporate governance matters.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Willing to work fully on-site at our Gelang Patah Logistics Hub, Johor.
