We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of EAL (English as an Additional Language) for our Junior School, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, who combines strong linguistic and pedagogical expertise with warmth, creativity and a genuine love of working with children.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and Learning
Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and inclusive EAL provision, in class and through targeted small group or 1:1 support
Foster a classroom culture built on curiosity, confidence, kindness and respect
Support access to an enhanced English National Curriculum for students at all stages of English proficiency
Use assessment thoughtfully to track language progress and inform planning
Work closely with class teachers to differentiate and scaffold learning for EAL students
Promote oracy, reading, writing and critical thinking across the curriculum
Create stimulating, language-rich classroom environments that celebrate learning and student voice
Ensure high expectations of behaviour, effort and scholarship
Contribute to curriculum development and EAL provision across the Junior School
Collaborate closely with colleagues to plan learning, share expertise and reflect on practice
Pastoral Care and Wellbeing
Know every child as an individual
Support students’ social, emotional and personal development, including the transition into an English medium environment
Contribute actively to the school’s pastoral systems and wellbeing programme
Build positive and trusting relationships with families, including those new to Singapore or an English speaking environment

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Relevant undergraduate degree; a specialist qualification in TEFL/TESOL, EAL or applied linguistics is highly desirable
Minimum of two years’ successful experience teaching EAL or multilingual learners at primary level
Experience teaching within the English National Curriculum or a British-style international curriculum
Strong understanding of child development, second language acquisition and effective primary pedagogy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to establish positive partnerships with students, colleagues and parents
Commitment to safeguarding and child wellbeing
Genuine enthusiasm for working with young children
High levels of professionalism, organisation and adaptability
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Experience within a high-performing international school
Experience assessing and tracking EAL proficiency levels (e.g. WIDA or an equivalent EAL assessment framework)
Experience integrating technology meaningfully into language learning
Experience contributing to co-curricular programmes
NPQ qualifications, Master’s degree or additional professional qualifications in EAL/TESOL
Experience supporting diverse learning needs, including SEND provision
