Job Title: Power Systems Engineer
Job Type: Full-time
Job Summary
We are seeking an analytical and technically sound Power Systems Engineer to design, analyze, and optimize our critical electrical power infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting power system simulation studies, troubleshooting high/medium voltage distribution equipment, ensuring grid compliance, and leading electrical engineering projects from design through to commissioning. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of electrical safety codes, excels at transient and steady-state analysis, and is committed to ensuring zero-downtime performance for our operations.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design & Analysis: Perform comprehensive power system simulation studies, including short-circuit, load flow, arc flash, protective relay coordination, and transient stability analysis using industry software.
- Infrastructure Maintenance & Support: Provide expert technical support for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium-to-high voltage power distribution systems (transformers, switchgears, UPS systems, generators).
- Project Engineering & Execution: Oversee electrical engineering modifications, installations, and commissioning activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to technical specifications.
- Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Ensure all power systems design and installations comply strictly with localized standards (e.g., SS 638, SS 555) and Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) guidelines.
- Vendor & Contractor Management: Coordinate with external power utility providers (e.g., SP Group), equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and turnkey contractors to manage technical requirements and equipment procurement.
- Root-Cause Analysis (RCA): Lead technical investigations into power disruptions, system anomalies, or component failures, executing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ideally specializing in Power Systems Engineering) or a related discipline.
- Experience: 3–6 years of hands-on engineering experience in high/medium voltage power distribution, grid operations, heavy industrial utilities, or mission-critical environments.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, DigSILENT, or PSS/E. Strong capability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematic drawings, and control wiring layouts.
- Professional License: Eligibility for or possession of an LEW (Licensed Electrical Worker) Grade 7/8 or Professional Engineer (PE) status in Singapore is highly advantageous.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills, with a collaborative mindset to interface with cross-functional technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing mission-critical power architectures within automated data center hubs or large-scale manufacturing facilities.
- Advanced certifications in industrial automation systems, PLC logic programming, or SCADA/EMS configurations.
