Role Description:

The Fractional Chief Innovation and Research Officer will lead the strategic design and execution of AgroNest’s innovation roadmap across AI, LLM, NLP, Climate Tech, Deep Tech, and Biotechnology. This full-time hybrid role is based in Singapore, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. Key responsibilities include identifying and evaluating emerging technologies, shaping research agendas, and overseeing interdisciplinary R&D programs that support sustainable agriculture and climate-resilient solutions. The role involves collaborating with product, engineering, and business teams to translate research outcomes into scalable solutions, building partnerships with universities, labs, and industry alliances, and guiding intellectual property and publication strategies. The officer will provide thought leadership, mentor research teams, ensure ethical and responsible AI practices, and prepare concise reports and presentations for executive leadership, investors, and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Strong Analytical Skills and Statistics expertise to design studies, interpret complex datasets, and support evidence-based decision-making.
• Advanced Research and Report Writing capabilities to lead multidisciplinary projects, document findings, and communicate technical outcomes clearly.
• Excellent Communication skills to engage cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and partners, and to present complex concepts in accessible terms.
• PhD or equivalent research-intensive degree in AI, Machine Learning, LLMs, NLP, Climate Tech, Deep Tech, Biotechnology, or a closely related field.
• Proven leadership experience in R&D, innovation management, or technology commercialization, preferably in agri-tech, climate tech, or life sciences.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML models, data platforms, and experimentation frameworks relevant to agriculture, climate resilience, or biotech applications.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing research teams and foster a culture of ethical, inclusive, and responsible innovation.
• Track record of publications, patents, or successful deployment of deep tech solutions, along with experience in industry partnerships and grant or funding initiatives.
• Comfort operating in a fast-paced startup environment, with strategic thinking, adaptability, and a strong commitment to sustainability and impact.
