Job Description

Responsibilities

CGS International Securities Pte. Ltd. (CGS International) is an award-winning and market leading integrated financial services provider, ranked among the top securities houses in Asia.

CGS International taps on our wealth of global and ASEAN insights to offer equities trading, leveraged products, wealth management, investment banking, equities research, Shariah-compliant financing, fixed income, currency and commodities, structured products and prime brokerage services in over 15 countries and regions.

Along with its parent organisation China Galaxy Securities, a leading securities house in China, CGS International is trusted by more than 15 million customers globally.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio management – IPO fund

  • Manage the IPO fund day to day under the oversight of the Group Head of Investments and within the investment committee framework: idea generation, IPO and placement participation, position sizing, and sell discipline after listing.
  • Assess new listings: business model, valuation versus peers, deal structure, cornerstone and anchor investor quality, and post-IPO supply (lock-up expiries).
  • Build and maintain relationships with ECM desks, bookrunners and company management.
  • Monitor portfolio risk, liquidity and performance against the fund’s mandate and benchmark; prepare performance attribution and commentary for investors and internal committees.

Product design and launches

  • Contribute to and lead assigned workstreams in the design and launch of new fund and ETF products, from market and competitor research through to product proposal.
  • Draft and review product documentation, including term sheets, investment strategy, index or methodology inputs, and prospectus sections.
  • Coordinate with index providers, trustees, custodians, market makers, legal and compliance through to launch.
  • Support distribution with pitch materials, investor meetings and launch marketing.

ETF portfolio management (post-launch)

  • Manage the ETFs after launch as portfolio manager: daily portfolio management and rebalancing, tracking error and tracking difference, and creations and redemptions.
  • Oversee secondary-market liquidity and spreads with market makers and participating dealers.
  • Prepare ongoing reporting on the ETFs for investors and management, and support board reporting.

Governance and team

  • Operate within investment guidelines, regulatory limits and internal compliance and risk controls.
  • Improve team processes, research templates and reporting as the platform grows, and take on ad hoc projects across the department.

Requirements & Skillset:

Mandatory skills

  • Strong knowledge of ASEAN equity markets, with a proven track record of investing in ASEAN-listed companies.
  • Fundamental equity analysis, stock selection and portfolio construction.
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills.
  • Clear writing and presenting: able to turn an investment view or product idea into a concise memo or pitch.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg.

Not mandatory but useful

  • ETF experience: product structuring, index methodology, listing, market making or distribution.
  • Knowledge of IPO/ECM processes in Asian markets.
  • Data or coding skills (e.g. Python).
  • 5–8 years of equity investment experience in a portfolio manager, analyst or similar buy-side role, with at least 3 years covering ASEAN equities. Direct portfolio management experience is preferred.
  • Track record in IPOs, placements or event-driven situations preferred.
  • Experience with ETFs is preferred
  • Degree in finance, economics, accounting or a related field.
  • Meets, or is able to meet before starting, the MAS requirements to be notified as a representative for fund management (relevant CMFAS modules), and will comply with the Code on Collective Investment Schemes and internal compliance policies.

Personal Attribute:

  • Self-starter who spots what needs doing and acts without waiting to be asked.
  • Hands-on and willing to roll up their sleeves: no task too small, from building the model to chasing trustee sign-offs.
  • Highly motivated, with the drive to build a platform rather than just run a book.
  • Comfortable in a start-up environment with shifting priorities and lean resources; organised and delivers under pressure.
  • High integrity, with a strong respect for compliance and governance; works well with control functions.
  • Collaborative team player with sound judgement.
