Job Overview
The Senior Manager Procurement is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing procurement activities for construction projects, ensuring that materials, equipment, services, and subcontract packages are sourced on time, at competitive costs, and in compliance with project requirements, specifications, and company procedures. The role works closely with the Project, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Site, Finance, Warehouse and Procurement teams to manage supplier performance, purchasing strategies, cost control, contract negotiations, and timely delivery throughout the project lifecycle.
Job Description
- Manage day-to-day purchasing activities for construction projects.
- Source and procure construction materials, equipment, services and subcontract works based on approved project requirements.
- Review purchase requisitions (PR), material requisitions and procurement requests from project/site teams.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare quotation comparison sheets and procurement recommendations.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules and other commercial conditions.
- Issue Purchase Orders (PO) and ensure proper approval according to company procedures.
- Follow up closely on outstanding orders and ensure timely delivery to site.
- Ensure materials are procured according to approved specifications and project requirements.
- Identify new suppliers and alternative sources to support project requirements.
- Develop and maintain the Procurement Schedule in coordination with the project programme.
Job Requirements
- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant purchasing/procurement experience.
- Strong experience in construction procurement is preferred.
- Experience dealing with construction materials, suppliers, subcontractors and specialist contractors.
- Microsoft Excel – strong proficiency required
- Good understanding of construction contracts, variation orders, claims, and project documentation.
- Experience in supplier negotiation and cost management.
- Have a full contact list of supplier and subcontractor will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial, contractual and project risk management.
- Experience handling multiple procurement packages simultaneously.
Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM12,000.00 per month
