Job Description

Responsibilities

About the company
Our client is an established financial services organisation seeking an experienced AML compliance professional to strengthen its regulatory governance and financial crime risk management capabilities.

This opportunity offers the chance to contribute beyond routine compliance monitoring, with involvement in advisory, oversight, process improvements and the development of junior team members.

About the job
You will play a key role in strengthening the organisation's AML/CFT framework, providing second-line oversight and advisory support while ensuring regulatory compliance and effective risk management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee second-line AML/CFT monitoring, reviews and risk assessments, ensuring appropriate governance and controls.
  • Provide advisory guidance to business and operational stakeholders on AML/CFT regulatory obligations and escalated matters.
  • Review and enhance AML policies, procedures, monitoring frameworks and internal controls.
  • Oversee escalated suspicious activity cases, ensuring appropriate investigation, documentation and reporting.
  • Identify emerging regulatory risks and drive improvements to compliance processes, systems and training initiatives.
  • Support senior compliance leadership in regulatory reporting, governance matters and cross-functional projects.

About the team/manager

You will work closely with senior compliance leadership and collaborate with stakeholders across the business.

The role also carries team oversight and mentoring responsibilities, making it particularly suitable for an experienced AML professional currently operating as a team lead, deputy team lead or senior individual contributor with mentoring experience.

Skills and experience required

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; professional AML or compliance certifications are advantageous.
  • At least 7–8 years of relevant AML/compliance experience within financial services.
  • Strong experience in second-line AML advisory, governance or oversight, preferably within life insurance or the financial advisory sector.
  • Experience leading, supervising or mentoring junior compliance professionals.
  • Sound knowledge of AML/CFT regulatory requirements, risk assessments, suspicious activity monitoring and escalation procedures.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to provide practical, risk-based advice.
