We are seeking an experienced Application Engineering leader in Nonwovens to lead and serve as a trusted technical partner to customers across Asia. The role combines technical leadership, customer and process consulting, product/application expertise, and cross-functional project management to develop tailored solutions that improve customer performance, quality, and efficiency. Working closely with customers, sales teams, and global headquarters, you will translate market and technical insights into product improvements, drive technical projects and field evaluations, and strengthen application knowledge through training and data-driven expertise.

Job Responsibilities

Lead the Application Engineering Nonwovens team in China on a functional level, including technical guidance, coaching, prioritization of topics and alignment of working methods and standard

Understand customer production processes end to end, analyze products, applications and machine settings, and develop customized solutions

Recommend the best-fit products, e.g. felting needles, based on all technical findings, to improve performance, quality and efficiency on the customer side

Identify customer pain points, including those the customer has not yet recognized, and translate them into actionable insights

Feed customer and market insights back to headquarters, and work with them to develop new products and solutions and bring them to market

Work closely with customers and sales colleagues as a trusted technical advisor on site and remotely

Work closely with headquarters in Albstadt (product management, application engineering, quality, production) as the technical link between region and HQ

Coordinate technical complaints, root cause analysis, quality topics and field tests across customers, sales, production, quality and labs

Support the product portfolio through benchmarking, technical evaluations and alignment with local requirements

Develop and deliver technical training, onboard colleagues and turn hands-on experience into documented, data-based knowledge

Plan, steer and follow up on regional and cross-functional projects, covering scope, timelines, stakeholder alignment, and progress tracking through to successful implementation

Create technical content and application-focused stories for trade fairs, sales documentation, digital channels and social media, and help turn technical expertise into compelling customer communication

Job Requirements

Degree in Textile Engineering (Master of Science)

8 years of experience in application engineering, technical consulting and process consulting in nonwovens and textile machinery

Sound understanding of textile production processes, machine settings and the interaction between process, product, and application

Strong process and solution orientation, with an analytical and structured approach to problem solving

Customer-centric mindset, with the ability to recognize hidden needs and turn them into opportunities

In-dept expertise in translating complex technical content into clear, customer-oriented messages

Experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration in global setup

Extensive experience in delivering training and in knowledge transfer

Profound data-driven mindset, turning observations and experience into facts and figures

Strong communication skills and a confident, consultative presence with customers

Intercultural sensitivity and experience working with teams across Asia

Independent, proactive and hands-on way of working

Team player in an international, matrix type of environment

Fluent in English, written and spoken

Confident user of SAP and M365

Experienced user of digital and AI-based tools (e.g., Copilot, AI video generation)

Willingness to travel regularly within Asia, including China
