Job Description

Responsibilities

At TNG Digital, part of TNG Digital Group, we build the tech behind TNG eWallet, one of Malaysia’s most used apps for payments and everyday life.

Millions of people rely on us daily, not just to pay, but to manage money, access financial services, and get things done faster and simpler.

Behind it all is a team that likes to question how things are done, move quickly, and try new ideas. If you enjoy solving real problems and seeing your work used at scale, you will feel right at home here.

Role Overview:

  • Must meet “fit and proper” criteria as defined by Bank Negara Malaysia (integrity, competency, and financial soundness).
  • Demonstrated deep working knowledge of AMLA, MSBA, and BNM AML/CFT/CPF requirements, including Risk-Based Approach, CDD, STR/CTR, and sanctions frameworks.
  • Proven experience in building and owning end-to-end AML/CFT compliance programmes within a regulated environment.
  • Strong track record engaging with BNM — including audits, regulatory submissions, and supervisory interactions.
  • Ability to operate with sufficient seniority, authority, and independence to influence business decisions and enforce compliance standards.

What You'll Do:

Compliance Strategy & Governance

  • Define and own the end-to-end compliance strategy aligned with BNM and MSB regulatory requirements in Malaysia, enabling fast, sustainable growth.
  • Build and continuously evolve scalable governance frameworks (policies, controls, risk appetite) that keep pace with business expansion.
  • Position compliance as a growth enabler — embedding discipline without slowing execution.

2. Regulatory Management & Industry Engagement

  • Act as the primary interface with regulators (BNM), demonstrating strong authority in the MSB regulatory landscape.
  • Lead all regulatory submissions, licensing matters, audits, and reviews with precision — ensuring zero surprises.
  • Maintain active engagement with MAMSB (Malaysia Association of Money Services Business) to stay ahead of regulatory changes and industry practices.

3. Financial Crime & Risk Control (AML/CFT)

  • Own and strengthen AML/CFT/CPF frameworks including transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and reporting obligations.
  • Proactively identify emerging risks and translate them into practical, scalable controls.
  • Ensure timely, accurate investigation and reporting of suspicious activities in line with BNM expectations.

4. Business Integration & Enablement

  • Partner closely with Product, Tech, and Business teams to embed compliance into product design and operations from day one.
  • Translate regulatory complexity into clear, execution-ready solutions that enable speed.
  • Provide strong, independent challenge — balancing innovation with regulatory discipline.

5. Team Leadership & Culture Building

  • Build and lead a high-performing compliance team with deep expertise in MSB regulations and fintech risk management.
  • Drive a company-wide culture of ownership, integrity, and proactive compliance accountability.
  • Set a high-performance bar — operating with urgency, clarity, and resilience.

Role Requirements

  • Certified in MAMSB AML/CFT programmes (e.g. GOCO Modules 1–4 or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of the Money Services Business (MSB) regulatory framework, including remittance, money-changing, and operational compliance.
  • Hands-on experience operating in high-volume, transaction-driven environments (e.g. remittance, fintech, payments, banking).

A Plus

  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, CFCS or equivalent.
  • Exposure to BNM-recognised programmes (e.g. ICLIF, MSB-DEP, leadership/governance programmes).
  • Active engagement with MAMSB or relevant industry bodies.
  • Experience scaling compliance frameworks in high-growth or transformation environments.

Mindset And Leadership Expectations

  • High ownership — takes full accountability for regulatory outcomes.
  • Strong business judgment — balances risk discipline with commercial velocity.
  • Hands-on operator — executes, not just advises.
  • Resilient and adaptable — thrives under regulatory pressure and ambiguity.
