Job Title: Functional Safety Specialist / Engineer

Location: Singapore (must be Southeast Asia based, with travel to Singapore and Shanghai sites)

Job Description: Provide independent functional safety assessment for a major pharmaceutical industry capital project. Review how hazard studies and protection-layer decisions lead to safety instrumented functions, SIL targets, safety requirements, system design and verification evidence. Evaluate process-industry SIS lifecycle governance, responsibilities, vendor interfaces and the quality and implementation of required deliverables. Trace selected high-consequence scenarios across HAZOP, LOPA, SIS and package-system documentation, identify gaps and communicate their significance and practical remediation. Work with the local process safety audit lead during project meetings and remote technical review.

Qualifications

• Process-industry functional safety: Deep hands-on experience with IEC 61511 or an equivalent process-industry SIS lifecycle.
• Major-project SIS assurance: Design, technical review or independent assurance of SIS for complex API, chemical or comparable facilities.
• SIF and SIL traceability: Ability to trace hazard scenarios through SIF identification, SIL determination, safety requirements, design and verification evidence.
• Vendor and package interfaces: Experience evaluating lifecycle responsibilities and interfaces across engineering teams, system vendors and packaged equipment.
• Audit findings and communication: Ability to evaluate evidence, identify lifecycle and governance weaknesses, and produce clear technical findings in coordination with a PSM lead.
• Helpful experience: CFSE, TÜV or equivalent credentials; HAZOP/LOPA facilitation; package-system integration. Certifications are preferred, not required.
