Are you strategic, patient, and passionate about teaching kids how to think ahead? We’re hiring a Freelance Chess Instructor to teach children ages 6–12 through engaging, hands-on chess sessions that build logical thinking, focus, and problem-solving skills.

Classes are interactive and skill-based, introducing students to chess fundamentals such as piece movement, tactics, strategy, planning ahead, and game analysis — all in a fun and supportive learning environment. Training and lesson materials will be provided.

Availability required: Weekly commitment; excluding school holidays

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate interactive chess classes:
Guide students step-by-step through chess fundamentals, practice games, and skill-building exercises.

Introduce chess concepts in a child-friendly way:
Explain piece movement, basic tactics (forks, pins, checks), openings, middle-game strategy, and endgame basics.

Support practice & improvement:
Observe games, help students analyse positions, suggest alternative moves, and encourage strategic thinking.

Encourage problem-solving & critical thinking:
Help students think multiple moves ahead and learn from wins and losses.

Ensure structured gameplay:
Supervise games to ensure fair play, proper use of timers (if used), and respectful competition.

Create a positive classroom experience:
Manage classroom flow, keep students engaged, and support varying skill levels from beginners to intermediate players.

Key Requirements
