This role is based at our Kuala Lumpur office on a full time onsite basis.

About the Role

We are seeking a Retention Marketing Manager to join our Kuala Lumpur team. This role owns our email programme end to end. You will combine English copywriting with Klaviyo campaigns and core automated flows to support first and repeat purchases. You will start with US English language email, expanding into Europe where existing language and operational support is available.

Despite the title, this is a hands on individual contributor role with no direct reports. You will write the copy and send the campaigns yourself. The role reports to the Head of DTC, aligning commercial timing and priorities there and acquisition messaging with the Performance Marketing Manager.

Our copywriter supports brand language, designers provide assets and templates, and DTC & CRM Operations supports agreed product data and setup tasks. Paid media, website production, design and video production, complex data integrations and people management sit outside this role.

Key Responsibilities

Email Calendar and Copy

• Maintain an executable email calendar aligned with agreed product, launch and promotion plans.
• Write subject lines, body copy and calls to action using existing brand materials and templates.

Campaign Build and Send

• Build standard segments and campaigns in Klaviyo.
• QA, schedule and send, checking links, product details, audience selection and mobile rendering.
• Follow through on results after each send.

Automated Flows

• Audit and improve core flows first, such as welcome, cart abandonment and post purchase messages.
• Prioritise improvements by likely impact and capacity, rather than rebuilding every customer journey at once.

Reporting and List Health

• Report clicks, purchases, email attributed revenue and unsubscribes.
• Test subject lines, messaging and send timing.
• Follow existing consent and suppression rules, and flag list quality or deliverability issues.

Initial Outcomes

Within 30 days you will establish the send calendar and review existing campaigns and core flows. By day 60 you will run the agreed regular sends and deliver priority improvements. We will review send accuracy, schedule adherence and test results, then agree performance targets using existing results and available data.

Requirements

• Experience personally writing and sending e-commerce email, supported by English writing samples and examples of campaigns you delivered.
• Ability to build and QA Klaviyo campaigns and standard flows without support.
• Understanding of how Shopify customer, order and product data supports email activity.
• Ability to interpret results, explain practical improvements and deliver on the agreed send calendar.
• Strong written English suitable for customer facing email copy.
• Hands on capability matters more than years of service or a previous management title.
• Currently based in Kuala Lumpur, or able to relocate at your own expense.

Advantageous

• DTC or premium consumer goods experience.
• Basic segmentation and A/B testing.
• The writing scope here is email. This is not a company wide brand copy, PR or social content role.
