Job Description: Freelance Tutor

Position: Freelance / Part-Time Tutor
Teaching Mode: Online and/or Physical
Work Location: Brainspark Education Centre, Plaza Mont Kiara, the student's designated location, or online, depending on the assigned job.

Job Summary

Brainspark Education is looking for qualified, responsible, and committed freelance tutors to provide personalised academic support and examination preparation to students.

Tutors will be matched with students based on their subject expertise, qualifications, experience, availability, and the student's learning requirements. Tutors are expected to deliver effective lessons, follow the agreed schedule, and support students in working towards their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct Lessons

• Teach the assigned subject and academic level according to the student's requirements.
• Follow the confirmed class schedule, duration, and teaching mode.
• Explain concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods to suit the student's learning needs.
• Prepare suitable exercises, worksheets, learning materials, and examination practice where necessary.

2. Lesson Preparation and Progress

• Review the student's syllabus, learning needs, and examination objectives before starting lessons.
• Plan lessons according to the student's current level and target.
• Monitor progress and identify areas requiring further improvement.
• Provide constructive feedback and updates to the Brainspark team when requested.

3. Flexible Scheduling and Attendance

• Class days and times are flexible and depend on the tutor's availability and the student's schedule. The final timetable will be mutually agreed upon before classes begin.
• Confirm availability before accepting a teaching assignment.
• Arrive or join online lessons at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start time.
• Inform the Brainspark team at least 2 hours in advance if rescheduling is necessary, except in emergencies.
• Attend lessons consistently and avoid last-minute cancellations.
• Inform the team promptly about attendance issues, schedule changes, or concerns affecting the student.

4. Communication and Professional Conduct

• Maintain professional and respectful communication with students and parents.
• Follow Brainspark's tutor guidelines, policies, and agreed teaching arrangements.
• Submit teaching records, attendance updates, or lesson feedback when required.
• Protect students' personal information and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

5. Administrative and Payment Guidelines

• Follow Brainspark's procedures for class confirmation, attendance, and payment claims.
• Do not collect tuition fees or other payments directly from parents unless expressly authorised by Brainspark.
• Refer payment enquiries, complaints, and changes to the assigned Brainspark administrator.
• Notify the team if you are no longer available to continue an assigned class.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Relevant academic qualifications or strong subject knowledge in the assigned teaching area.
• Good command of English or the relevant teaching language.
• Ability to explain concepts clearly and support students at different learning levels.
• Familiarity with the relevant curriculum or examination syllabus is an advantage.
• Previous tutoring or teaching experience is preferred, particularly for specialised examination preparation.
• Reliable, punctual, responsible, and committed to agreed teaching schedules.
• Able to teach online, physically, or both, depending on availability and assignment requirements.
• Willing to provide relevant qualifications, experience, and supporting documents for tutor registration.

Working Arrangement

• Employment Type: Freelance / Part-Time
• Working Hours: Flexible, depending on the tutor's availability, the student's preferred schedule, and the agreed class arrangement.
• Student Allocation: Subject to student requirements, tutor suitability, and availability.
• Remuneration: Based on subject, academic level, experience, teaching mode, and the agreed rate for each assignment.
• Payment: According to Brainspark's applicable tutor payment procedures and terms.

This is a freelance teaching arrangement. Tutors are engaged for agreed assignments and are not automatically guaranteed a fixed number of classes or monthly income.
