Job Description

Responsibilities

This role is posted on behalf of Infinite Orbits Singapore, a startup supported by SGInnovate.

Background

Infinite Orbits Singapore is the Singapore subsidiary of Infinite Orbits SAS (Toulouse, France). Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company founded in Singapore in 2017 that now counts more than 200 colleagues across locations including France, Luxembourg, Germany, Spain and the UK. We develop in-orbit servicing solutions, from awareness, inspection and protection of space assets to life extension and satellite servicing. All of them are built on our own Autonomous Vision-Based Solution.

IO has two generations of missions: “Orbit Guard” provides Inspection and Space Situational Awareness services in GEO. “Endurance” is a docking service that extends the life of GEO telecom satellites by taking over their AOCS for 5 years.

IO Singapore is building the Group’s R&D hub in Asia-Pacific, focused on AI, advanced sensing and robotics for autonomous spacecraft. It works in close partnership with leading Singaporean research institutions such as A*STAR and NUS.

We are looking for the founding technical team of Infinite Orbits in Singapore. You may bring entrepreneurial drive, enjoy moving fast between research and engineering, and want real ownership over what you build.

Job scope

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on AI & Robotics Research Engineer to become one of the first technical hires of Infinite Orbits Singapore. The role sits at the intersection of AI, computer vision and robotics, rather than in a narrowly defined embedded-software or computer-vision position.

You will develop and experiment with perception and decision-making approaches for autonomous robotic systems. You will train and validate models on synthetic, simulated and real sensor data, and turn research results into working prototypes. Over time, these prototypes will connect to space-relevant sensing and capture systems.

You will work closely with Engineering in Toulouse, with other Group entities, and with our Singaporean research partners. In this position, you help shape the Group’s new AI and robotics R&D capability from its earliest stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and experimenting with computer vision, vision-language models (VLMs), world models and other AI approaches for perception and autonomous robotic systems.
  • Training, evaluating and deploying models using synthetic, simulated and real sensor data, including simulation-to-reality (sim-to-real) work.
  • Building prototypes that connect perception models with robotic and autonomous decision-making, and progressively with space-relevant sensing and capture systems.
  • Improving model robustness, validation and efficient deployment on resource-constrained compute platforms.
  • Collaborating with Infinite Orbits teams internationally and with Singaporean research partners (A*STAR, NUS) to move ideas from research experiments to working systems.
  • Preparing, writing and reviewing technical documentation, experiment reports and specifications of your solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

Requirements

  • Background: Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical field.
  • Work Experience: 3 to 7 years of experience in applied AI/ML, robotics or computer vision, ideally in an industrial or applied-research environment.
  • AI & Deep Learning: Strong Python skills and hands-on experience with modern deep-learning frameworks, covering model training, evaluation and deployment.
  • Research-to-Engineering Mindset: Proven ability to experiment quickly, build real systems and work across the boundary between AI research and engineering.
  • Autonomy: Strong ability to work on your own initiative within a small, fast-growing team.
  • Communication: Excellent English proficiency, with the ability to write clear technical and scientific documentation and to work with international teams.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with robotics, VLMs, world models, synthetic data generation or simulation environments.
  • Experience with NVIDIA’s AI and robotics stack.
  • Experience deploying models on embedded or edge hardware.
  • Experience with event-based cameras or other advanced sensing modalities.
  • Experience in the space sector (welcome but not required).
